FAQs about hotels in Asturias
A Secret of Nature
From dramatic mountains of the Picos de Europa National Park to buildings precariously close to its Atlantic Coast’s sheer cliffs, Asturias is one of Spain’s best kept secrets.
In a valley, the capital Oviedo is an eclectic mix of architecture, great food and even greater nightlife. And for nightlife read ‘early morning life’ as things don’t get going until after midnight. Nearby Gijón is the region’s biggest city and well known for its cider industry and long, sandy beach.
With over 250 km of coastline, Asturias has an impressive array of beaches, many sheltered by towering cliffs. One such beach is Playa del Silencio near Cudillero. Along the coast the port of Aviles has a delightful French garden and the futuristic-looking Centro Niemeyer.
Popular Llanes to the east is home to some of the best Asturias hotels, and the coastline between here and Pendueles is absolutely spectacular. Ribadesella also has beautiful scenery where river meets sea. By a different river mouth is Luarca, a picturesque town curving around its harbour full of fishing boats bringing in excellent seafood.
Inland the scenery undulates in peaks and troughs, and beaches give way to fields where grazing animals far outweigh tourists. Here are more country houses on Booking.com, while most Asturias apartments, guest houses and hotels are by the coast.

- From US$85.83 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 447 reviewsMagica says it all! It’s just got to be one of the most stunning hotel locations I’ve stayed at. That’s not all the hotel itself is beautiful too, with lovely quaint rooms. Ours was a junior suite (G) nice and spacious with huge bath too relax in after long humid walks! The staff are extremely friendly and will go out of the way to make your stay as perfect as possible. The food menu is quite limited in choice that changes every evening. The four evening meals we had were exceptionally delicious and I mean 10/10 tasty! The serving staff were always charming and made us feel very welcome. To me it was really obvious the staff were extremely happy to be working at this very lovely place. If you have happy staff then you definitely on your way to a perfect hotel. For us it was just that, Perfect!! Thank you for such a wonderful stay.Guest review byPhilipUnited Kingdom
- From US$99.33 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,375 reviewsVery rarely does a place exceed expectations but Don Paco does. Not only is the hotel staffed by kind, open hearted welcoming people, it exceeds in every aspect from cleanliness, food, service and a warm welcoming atmosphere. It is clear that the staff care about their guests and it is also located in one of the most beautiful areas that I have been too with the hotel a few steps away from a beautiful town that has kept its heritage, a short walk brings you to a family friendly beautiful beach and the town is surrounded by some of the most jaw dropping views of the sea and mountains. There is an expression in English to state how wonderful a place is and it is referred to as "God's Country" and I think the Asturias region deserves the title.Guest review byClaraIreland

Great rock ñ roll festival here every October. Grounds ate kept lovely. Facilities ate great. It was our fifth year here and always a friendly face from the barman. Note that the swimming pool closes at the end of September but the campsite is open all year.Guest review bylauraUnited Kingdom

I read about Oviedo in a British newspaper.
I read about Oviedo in a British newspaper. It is in an area of Northern Spain that is rich in history and architecture but is not frequented by tourist from abroad. Not many spoke English, but that is a good thing, showing that the area is not primarily populated by local residents. I particularly enjoyed visiting the Cathedral, Archaeological Museum, Art Museum and a ninth century church. The Old Town is full of old buildings that are still in use and is very pleasant to stroll around in.Guest review byPiersUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Rather nice city at the ocean shore.
Rather nice city at the ocean shore. The center is not too urbanistic, architecture is good. It is also not too big, it can be explored by foot, visiting all three beaches. The whole city can be crossed by a cheap bus. The views are great. Especially Playa de San Lorenzo and points around the Cerro de Sta Catalina. For those found of walking I also recommend visiting the Senda del Cervigón route. But I'll warn swimmers - take into account tides, waves and the water temperature.Guest review byMikhailRussia - 10.0

Great little town with many restaurants and bars, mainly frequented by Spanish people and other tourists. Many families on holiday which made the place feel safe. I would consider staying there in the future as part of another tour.Guest review byIan Charles - 10.0

Shops, cafes and restaurants and easy access to all the sights of the area. Easy drive to Poncebos (go early, limited parking) and a super walk to Bulnes and return via funicular. A nice drive out to Cangas de Onís. All very scenic.Guest review byAndyUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The hotel was better than I expected.
The hotel was better than I expected. It's a great location, walking distance to town, and has nearby restaurants. The staff are very friendly, speak excellent English, and they even folded clothes left out when they cleaned the room. Parking is on the side, so drive right in and turn right. Downstairs are two living rooms, one with a bar. Drinks are inexpensive, and they would pour until you said when. It's not in Cudillero proper, but it has parking, which we needed.Guest review byJohnUnited States - 10.0

Luarca is very beautiful , you fell the force of the Bizkaya in the entire city. It is not touristic at all, you rarely hear other languages than Spanish. The restaurants offer the most delicious and fresh seafood , the large variety of Bizkaya and Atlantic fish and regional food. You can have a walk on the 3 moles or climb up to one of the seaside hills. You should not be afraid of rain and a part of the buildings is empty and not well-kept, so there is some lost places charme.Guest review byMareikeGermany - 8.0

If you haven't explored Asturias give it a go, but you will have problems if you don't speak Spanish. I am fluent but because there aren't many tourists everyone gives you an up-and-down look and anticipates you being a guiri. Then, when you surprise them by speaking Spanish, they act like the French do and answer you by saying "OK". Well this is true for much of Spain, but the beauty of the Asturian countryside and architecture, the temperate climate, the great local train system (cercanias) and more or less cheap prices (except in July/August) make it worthwhile.Guest review byRICHARDUnited Kingdom
