understated and often overlooked, but Ciudad Real is really a gem. A lot of interesting museum (tho, some unfortunately couldnt take pictures of), a lot to enjoy in the city itself and even for day trips, you have cool options to Almagro or Damiel too. Vote for Ciudad Real city for being amazingGuest review byAnitadiahSpain - 10.0
Almagro is a historical city with a 16th century feeling.
Almagro is a historical city with a 16th century feeling. Get lost walking its small streets (like Calle de las Bernardas). Enjoy its warm people, their traditions (like Las Cruces in May), their excellent wine (both white and red), and food (Manchego cheese or lomo de orza at the Restaurante de las Murallas). Spend time in the main square (Plaza Mayor) and visit the Corral de la Comedia (a historical theatre that competes with Shakespeare's Globe).Guest review byJosé - 8.0

This would be a great place to stay if you had business to do in Valdepenas or, like us, you wanted a place to break your journey on your way to Andalucia. The kitchen was very well equipped so we ate in our apartment as the weather was extremely wet. The town is centred around wine production and it would be a great place for wine lovers.Guest review byAngelaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The town centre was quite compact and flat for pedestrians.
The town centre was quite compact and flat for pedestrians. There was no tourist office that we could find so we relied on leaflets from our hotel although there were a few good on line sites which gave good information. There were a few good winery shops on the outskirts of town where it was possible to buy the local wine direct from the producers. There are museums in the area that should be visited if you get the chance but most require a car journey. The main plaza was very well done and had a few cafes and bars around it but we didn’t enjoy the busy motor traffic.Guest review bySue JUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Small quiet town, with some historical buildings and a history of trains, because of the rail hub. A walk throug the city takes about 2 hours. As a tourist, ideal as a stop for the night. Remarkable is the effort of the communidad to offer the residents modern and useful infrastructure.Guest review bykarlBelgium - 10.0

I loved the cheese museum and the archives of the bullfighter who got gored fatally in Manzanares in 1934. I loved the 13 euros menu lunch at Menano. Paella for one was possible and was only a first course. Main course followed plus dessert, drink and coffee. Super fast service too.Guest review byNicholasCanada - 10.0

We travel with our dog and this hotel is nearly perfect for an overnight stop. Dogs not allowed in the bar or resteraunt. Rooms are separate from the main building . Covered free parking. Easy access to country track for exercise. Staff friendly but only a little English. Resteraunt is great value at set price. Breakfast is good and served in bar. House wine is local to Mudela and decent.Guest review byMalcolmUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We have stayed there many times and always enjoyed our time there. This year for the first time we had a suite rather than just a bedroom and we appreciated the comfortable chairs, table, and extra space. Very comfortable bed.Guest review byVeronicaUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Sadly, I wasn't able to stay in Almagro for very long.
Sadly, I wasn't able to stay in Almagro for very long. It was an overnight stay as part of a longer trip. My general impressions are that you could spend a couple of days there, possibly longer, exploring the town and its surroundings. The main square is interesting, with its historic town hall and a first floor 'balcony' which stretches almost its whole border. Also in the main square is a good selection of restaurants and tapas bars. Almagro is very 'walkable', and flat. From my hotel, a steady wander took me around a lot of it in a couple of hours. One thing I would say is that Almagro is a little off the beaten track, and as such is very Spanish. If you make the effort to learn some of the language (which is a useful tip for anywhere), it will enhance and make your visit a lot easier. In my time there I didn't hear any language other than Spanish being spoken.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Valdepeñas is a small city known for its wine making.
Valdepeñas is a small city known for its wine making. The hills are surrounded by grape vines and olive trees. There are several bodegas where you can take part in wine tasting. The plaza is beautiful and perfect for sitting at a cafe and people watching.Guest review byTaraUnited States
