It might be a bit of an unusual place at first glancde (because of the seafood restaurant and hotel combo) but it is actually the place where I had the best views and best night sleep during a long roadtrip. The fact that the rooms weren't quiet (as shownieuws in my reciew) is actually not a form of critisism. What makes this place so great is that - once you have a room fading towrds the sea - that you want it to be loud is the sense that you can hear the waves crashing in. The sounds of the waves and the wind, for me, was the most calming aspect of this place. The hotel was right on the harbour so it was great to have look around the boats ect. A short walk uphill into the town and you find plenty of bars and good restaurants. If you dont fancy the walk into town there are 3 good fish restaurants on or around the harbour. While not primarily a tourist town, Pontedeume is on the Camino Ingles and has lots of through hikers. We found it to be a prosperous and typical Galician town, in pretty valley overlooking the tidal Rio Eume, and used it as a base of operations for exploring the nearby Rias Atlas and Fragas do Eume, for which it was perfect, and a more quaint setting than larger A Coruña or Ferrol.Guest review byKen from SlidellUnited States - 8.0

Excellent hotel rooms in a quiet and well appointed hotel. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms had everything you need. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Dinner in the hotel was excellent with steak and seafood on offer, all reasonably priced. They offer breakfast also. the Hotel is located by the ocean and is in easy walking distance from numerous bars and restaurants. The highlight of the city is clearly the Playa de las Catedrales. We went by it on the way in but it was rainy and overcast so we only did a drive by. The next morning was much clearer. We also lucked out as being at low tide. We learned that one should DEFINITELY watch the tide schedules when visiting as you want to get down and don't want to be trapped. Ferrol is a town with lots of history, and a great maritime pedigree. It seems to have plenty of decent places to eat (albeit not the best value for money), and isn't without character. However the town feels very empty and lifeless. It doesn't feel like anything happens here. Super views from sea facing bedroom and from the roof terrace where cocktails and snacks were served. Good location for walking to old town with lots of bars and restaurants. Very friendly, helpful reception staff, and the hotel was scrupulously clean at all times. Lovely town even in the depths of December.
Lovely town even in the depths of December. Some of the best tapas I've eaten (recommend el secreto, el mar and Jack Rock especially). The beach was perfect for a winter walk and the senderismo to el ponte do porco was enjoyable on a sunny winter's day.
