A major selling point was the free sauna, convenient location in the town where I had my business meetings and the great reviews about the breakfast. Upon arrival at Backby I was transported to a fairy like destination. The landscaping, the buildings, the air that was pure and fresh. Everything felt magical. I slept soundly in the firm single bed and enjoyed a superb breakfast buffet the next day! Even more special the sun was out in all it glory on my second day so I was able to enjoy breakfast on the terrace with a view of the lush Finnish forest. I sat outside for two hours in the sunshine enjoying a three- course breakfast of fresh berries with yoghurt, bread and pastries with sausages, and specially made hot chocolate! I walked around the city and sat nearby the lake and many gardens and many beautiful streets, but native people are not social (as expected, actually). It was fun to be here. Our primary reason for Vantaa was our need to be at the airport very early. The public transport runs super efficiently. We bussed into central Helsinki using 2 routes and both were excellent. Bus stops literally outside the apartment block. The train station is a brisk 10 minute walk away and again super service for Helsinki, the airport or connections to wider Finland.. At this time of year, late April, some of the tourist options dont operate as you might expect aka Hop on/off bus isnt that until into May, (convenient Tourist information at Senate Square in the City Centre. )Olympic Museum may be of interest but wont take that long to look round. Seems if you want the Salmon Soup you had better think about that early on a cold day - initially looks expensive but the pictures show large chunks of fish.
