Our room was quite big When you wake up in the morning, and have a coffee in the garden you feel awesome if you are a nature person. They were great selection of cheeses and in breakfast you feel at home. We spend around 12 hours total and these are my feelings. There is lake nearby which probably in spring and summer is very cool but we didn’t walk as we have two kids and it was winter

FAQs about hotels in Alsace

A Mouthful of History, Architecture and Food

One of the most important regions in the European Union because of its number of international organisations, Alsace is also the smallest region in mainland France. Stretched along the upper Rhine, this is an area of tumultuous history, great architecture and distinctive cuisine.

The Alsace capital, Strasbourg, features one of the most beautiful European cathedrals and a very photogenic Old Town with cobbled streets and half-timbered townhouses. You can find picturesque castles, villages and churches all around this petite region.

But Alsace is not just known for its man-made structures. It also boasts the low, densely forested Vosges Mountains with glacial lakes, great hiking trails and charming waterfalls. Not to mention its vineyards and the famous Alsatian Vineyard Route, stretching from Wissembourg to Thann and incorporating 67 towns and villages.

A visit to the region wouldn’t be complete without trying some of the famous Alsatian cuisine. Said to be the birthplace of sauerkraut, this is one of the best places to try tarte flambée, a delicious creation of onion, bacon and crème fraiche.

Whether you opt for one of the hotels de charme in Alsace, a stylish apartment or a friendly B&B, Booking.com has a great range on offer 24/7!

Every thing! We went for a spa weekend with our french bulldog (which sleeps a lot) and everything was perfect. The room was comfortable with enough space to walk around, the bathroom was very warm. This room was a little outdated but very charming. The spa facilities are definitely high standards, 2 different sauna, a hamman, a pool with jacuzzi space, everything is made to relax. The restaurant was also great, food was qualitative and servings a good size. The staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. Special ++ for the delicious easter cake on the door step on the Sunday morning!

    Strasbourg is a must.

Strasbourg is a must. This time, we ( me and three teenagers) arrived at 22:00 and left at 10 am, but even then we enjoyed it: found gelato in front of the illuminated cathedral, wandered the charming streets late night and early morning, enjoyed breakfast then went on our way. Worth the hour detour to stay in the center of the old town! Gutenberg Parking is smack in the middle and has overnight parking.

    Colmar is beautiful.

Colmar is beautiful. It is touristy but that doesnt detract from how nice it is. We went in September and not too crowded. Two or three days stay recommended. It's an easily walkable place with lovely architecture. Lots of choices of restaurants. Spend a day on the bus from the station or tourist info to visit the medieval wine villages. You can visit them all if you leave early enough or spend a bit longer at some. We did three and enjoyed it. There are little tourist trains in Colmar and the villages and these are a good way to get a flavour of the places. Easy to visit Strasbourg for a couple of days from Colmar. I would recommend Strasbourg first then Colmar.

Mulhouse is a crowded city, close to Swiss border. Narrow streets and cars parked on both sides, the place didn't feel safe while traveling with family. we stayed in a crowded neighborhood, where people smoked and drank in the streets. Tip: Before you book a place in France, look at the Google satellite view or do some research.

I am French so I was happy to stay in France while visiting Basel. Because of the poor experience we had in the apartment, we moved to another one in Switzerland. We found a very charming village with beautiful architecture and nature around. Switzerland must have been wealthier than this part of France for a long time and it shows.

Beautiful village with half-timbered houses in the heart of the wine-growing region of Alsace. Very touristy during the daytime, but the crowds thin out considerably in the evening, leaving the storks in peace with those discerning enough to have booked somewhere to stay in the village itself. Eating out is expensive and the quality is mediocre. Nobody needs to try hard here, because the location is stunning and people will keep coming back even when service is poor. Some spectacular castle ruins are hiking distance from the village. The picturesque city of Colmar is within easy reach. The historic village of Turckheim is worth visiting when the town watchman does his nightly rounds of the walls, wishing all the sleeping inhabitants a "guati Nacht" in the Alsacien language.

This is one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages in the Alsace wine region. It can be busy during the day at peak season as it is on the Wine Route and gets a lot of day visitors. Staying here means that you get to experience it in the mornings and evenings when it is generally fairly quiet and you can really enjoy the surroundings and the handful of local restaurants and cafes. For us, that was one of the best reasons to stay here. It is also a great location for days out around the region, to Basle in Switzerland (40 minutes by car) and also across the Rhine into Germany (30-40 minutes by car) being fairly central. From the UK, it is easy and fairly quick to get to with Eurostar into Strasbourg or cheap flights to Basle Airport then local transport.
