This is a kooky hotel! Beautiful courtyards with lots of sitting areas amongst the flowering plants. The rooms are all different, comfortable and very attractive. The staff are very helpful. It was lovely coming in summer, now I’d like to return in a cooler month to use the fireplace in the room! Plenty of wardrobe / shelving space. Nice little pool and decking area.

The accommodation was excellent and the beds very comfortable. Hotel was very clean. Breakfast was good and always being topped up. We often had the pool to ourselves and there were plenty of sun beds available. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

    The hotel is located on a sand dune next to the beach. It is beautiful and equipped with tables and chairs to enjoy the view across the sound between Ile de Re and the next island. The bar is staffed by very nice and attentive young men, who served us with delicious mocktails and olives. The Thalasso was lovely as well We enjoyed the hot water pool and massage jets as well as the outdoor salt water pool. The massages were excellent and very relaxing. The restaurant was also very good.

    Nice and tidy hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. Rooms are big and have anything you may need with a kitchenette. Has a swimming pool, but we did not use it. You can order a breakfast but we did not have time (they start at 8am). You not only have shower, but also a bath.

    Great location, something for everyone.

    Great location, something for everyone. A historic port city with lots of fortifications, history, architecture, culture, fabulous scenery, great walks, lovely beach, and an abundance of restaurants, bars and shops all contained in a safe walkable city. I would highly recommend La Rochelle for a long weekend 5 - 6 days with one day spent traveling Ile De Re (St. Martin)

    An unexpected visit due to an issue with our truck but the place is lovely so I am quite happy we had the issue. I would definitely go back and stay for li get next time round. The beach front was full of lovely bars, restaurants and shops and the harbour/port area was also stunning.

    Rochefort is a very nice town by any standards.

    Rochefort is a very nice town by any standards. It has lots of history in that it was where the French made their eary war ships and there is a dedicated museum to this, The town is laid out on a grid system so its easy to navigate. Huge street market once a week, plus an indoor market place. There are lots of other museums and you should get on line to see all the attractions that are available. The locals are very friendly and helpful, the cafes vibrant and well priced and the whole town is clean.

    To visit the island a car or bicycle is very useful although there is a bus service. Many other interesting villages to visit on the island. Plenty of good restaurants particularly away from the main tourist areas.

    Stayed here for one night on way back to UK from Spain. Accommodation basic but just what you need and clean staff friendly and very helpful. Would definitely stay again maybe more time next time to explore la Rochelle. Had a great night's sleep too parking great and my 2 little dogs made welcome too. Close to amenities restaurant and shops.

    Lovely beaches and restaurants, the train station is very close to the centre and very good for taking trips along the coast we went to La Rochelle which was only 20 mins so much easier than taking a car

    Sainte Marie de Re is very quiet with not many shops or restaurants. There is a Carrefour supermarket and a small market daily. A lot of places were close early which meant we had to travel to St Martin de re , La Flotte or Bois de Plage to eat .

    Even though La Flotte doesn’t have the broad sandy beaches like those on the other side of the island, it has a delightful village atmosphere and an abundance of restaurants and bars. La Flotte is connected to the rest of the island by the free shuttle bus, the 150 bus from La Rochelle, or as is very popular, by bicycle. There are many dedicated cycle paths and the island is flat. St. Martin is nominally the central point of Ile de Re and the arrival port for the ferry from La Rochelle. La Flotte is 10 minutes away by shuttle or bus. Dining in La Flotte I highly recommend Chez Nous Comme Chez Vous, for excellent cuisine.

    Only had time to stay one night but could happily have stayed longer. The old town is lovely to walk around and many of the buildings are stunning. We were there in high summer so it was quite busy with tourists but there are plenty of restaurants and bars. Great atmosphere to the town.
