- From US$162.69 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 834 reviewsThe staff at this charming hotel were incredibly welcoming, and the location is stunning! From the moment you arrive, you are immersed in a sense of relaxation and beauty. Our room was situated not in the main building (the castle) but in a lovely annex. It was quiet at night, which is very important to me. The room was spacious and cozy, with tea, coffee, and water available for free. We dined at the restaurant inside the Domaine; the food was good, though in my humble opinion, not exceptional. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance. The beautiful breakfast room, located inside the castle, offered a great variety of choices. The garden and the view are stunning, with swimming pools located in various spots. Having visited many hotels in Dordogne during my stay, Château de Monrecour was definitely my favorite. I hope to have the chance to go back soon.Guest review byMFSwitzerland
- From US$213.83 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 184 reviewsEverything about Chateau des Vigiers was perfect. All the staff we encountered were extremely professional and helpful. It's a beautiful place with comfortable good sized room. Eating in Les Fresques was an incredible exclusive. But the Bistro also served really good food with staff in both radians restaurants going out of their way to look after you. Will definitely try to return!Guest review byNathanielAustralia

Bordeaux city is of sufficient historical interest to...
Bordeaux city is of sufficient historical interest to warrant staying there for 2-3 days, for tourist sights, food, and wine of course. Depending on your interest in wine, you might want to spend longer. We went to one winery near St Emilion, which we also visited, for 6-7 hours on one day, which turned out to be more pleasant than exciting. Rue Sainte Catherine is interesting if a little touristy, but that's what you might expect in most small European cities with a burgeoning population of foreign tourists. We didn't visit the old Nazi submarine pens, now part of an art exposition because of lack of spousal interest but I understand it's quite interesting. Surprisingly the guide for the city tour we bought was a transplant from Ireland, but he was very well versed in the history of the city, and comes highly recommended. Note that one of the tram lines takes you straight from the airport to the cathedral and beyond so it can be a convenient way to travel, depending on where you are staying. There is a restaurant with a transplanted Scotsman as owner and head chef that we quite enjoyed for dinner.Guest review bystanfellUnited States - 8.0
Clermont-Ferrand was a really enjoyable place to visit.
Clermont-Ferrand was a really enjoyable place to visit. I especially liked how the city blends natural beauty with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Getting around the city was pretty straightforward. When it came to food, we mostly tried local spots we came across while walking around, and overall, the food scene felt very authentic and accessible. There were also lots of parks and open spaces where he could run around and play. Overall, it’s a great city for a relaxed family trip with a good mix of nature, culture, and kid-friendly activities.Guest review byMauricioNetherlands - 10.0
Easy and cheap to park in the town centre.
Easy and cheap to park in the town centre. Our host gave advice. Porcelain museum definitely worth a visit. Also the station buildings. We enjoyed walking around the medieval streets. We walked to the places of interest. We recommend Le Versailles brasserie. It is open on a Sunday and food is superb.Guest review byJenniferUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Fabulous and unspoiled medieval city.
Fabulous and unspoiled medieval city. The city is divided by a straight road with many shops. It is good to explore both sides. One has all the main buildings the other side has a maze of charming streets. at night the town is gaslit - very atmospheric! The market is exceptional.Guest review byclareUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We loved Brive as a destination, we stayed for 7 days, arrived at Brive airport, had to get a taxi, no public transport, paid 70euro to get taxi from boulevard Jules Ferry to airport on a Sunday. Yikes... Would recommend renting a car overall .Guest review byLotteIreland - 10.0

Bergerac is a beautiful town in the Dordogne, we loved walking around the historic area, it feels very safe and is hilly enough to add to the character but not too hilly to spend the whole day walking around. The Port on the Dordogne River is nice, we did the boat ride, you don't see much as far as houses or buildings but there was plenty of wildlife to see, Osprey, Egrets and they even found a Kingfisher for us so see. One entire day there or 2 short days is enough. We filled the other 2 days with excursions to Chateaux.Guest review bySo many placesFrance - 8.0

Angoulême is a beautiful city with the cartoon murals all around. But I didn't know that some places were on top of the hill, like the cathedral, some museums were all down by the mountain. I kind of struggled walking all around because of the heat stroke ( it was 40 degrees). But city buses can save you and take you anywhere you want. The city is good to hang out at night, I tried local beers at a bar and chat with the other tables as a solo traveler.Guest review bySelinSpain - 10.0
A must visit for anyone seriously interested in Bordeaux...
A must visit for anyone seriously interested in Bordeaux wines, but obviously the area is rich in historical significance with stunning vistas. A bit touristy in some respects, but people are drawn to the area for obvious reasons. Our decision to visit in the early fall meant we encountered some rain, but it was worth the trade-off for smaller crowds.Guest review byFrankUnited States - 10.0
Great little quaint hotel, absolutely charming.
Great little quaint hotel, absolutely charming. Walk across the street, you have a little church worth seeing. You can see the castle from the little plaza next to the restaurant. Within walking distance to the castle. Everything there was enchanting. The hosts were perfectly welcoming, friendly, helpful. DO NOT MISS the breakfast. It is well worth it. Good local products, ham, eggs. Pains et croissants bien croustillants. Highly recommend!!Guest review byDevy KUnited States - 10.0

We loved the narrow streets, with bars and bistros everywhere. The cathedral is a very striking building, and can be seen from long distances. We enjoyed the markets, and the general atmosphere of the town. We felt safe walking round.Guest review byRosemary
