- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 67 reviewswe loved the whole experience of sharing this property with the wonderful host. Mme Francois couldn’t have been more welcoming, engaging and helpful. And also, her excellent grasp of English made up for our basic French. The property was warm and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed, and was clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable, and the shower was excellent. The welcome and monitoring of the house dog was also very much enjoyed. Thank you, we had a wonderful time and stay, and will return againGuest review byDaveUnited Kingdom

Cherbourg is dominated by a huge harbour where your ferry comes in. The town itself is long from east to west, spreading out from the harbour. From north to south it is much smaller. The harbour area and the promenades are worth walking around and the central area at the Place Charles de Gaulle is the best area to relax in. It's also the ideal town from which to see other nearby attractions, such as a D-Day beach, the Bayeux Tapestry and Mont-St-Michel, all of which I visited. One word of warning - the French railway service isn't the best. The trains are subjected to many cancellations and delays and the ticket machines in the stations frequently refuse to give you a ticket! Railway problems aside, the town of Cherbourg and other parts of Normandy are worth a holiday and I'm so glad I went.Guest review byCLIVEUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Good choice of restaurants & interesting shops.
Good choice of restaurants & interesting shops. The tourist information was very helpful & staff were friendly. There's lots of walking opportunities from the town & the nearby lighthouse is good to visit. There is a town walking guide available from the tourist information. There is a good market once a week & a tourist train leaves from the town. Nearby Port-Bail is a pretty place to visit.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Quite honestly, I was drawn to Saint Mere Eglise because it was the station point for a D-Day tour my dad and I had booked. I had no clue the charm and history of this little town! The food was great everywhere we went, the museum was incredible, the people were so, so kind, the list goes on! This is definitely a hidden gem of Normandy. We visited Utah Beach on our tour, and it was packed tight with tourists. After hearing other people's experiences in Normandy, I was so glad we stayed in such a quaint town. 11/10 -- exceeded our expectations.Guest review byHannah - 10.0

the only negative comment i could think of was there was no kettle which being a big tea drinker i noticed, but the stove boiled the water quickly so no big deal. otherwise it met every need we had :)Guest review bySteveUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Great little village, especially for those who like WWII history. Beautiful church sits in the middle of the village square. Lovely little creperie/restaurant right on the square. Church bells can take a little bit to get used to, but after a while you like hearing them. Only 5 minutes drive from Utah Beach & its great museum. Nearest town is Carentan which is less than 15 minutes drive. Has all you will need.Guest review byDavid - 8.0

Pleasant town with a choice of restaurants. Good base for visiting the Normandy beaches and War memorials. Good for visiting Bayeux for a day and seeing the famous tapestry and the cathedral. Easy access from Route N13Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A charming little fishing port. There are still one or two commercial fishing boats and masses of small craft in the harbour with dries out hot low tide. There are a good number of restaurants and bars clustered around the portGuest review byGordonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Reville is a small town close to Jonville with a bakery and tabac. Jonville has a delightful stretch of sandy south facing beach with a very pleasant bar and restaurant at the eastern end; otherwise there are no shops or amenities in Jonville but a good walk or short drive south is St Vaaste which is a working fishing port and harbour with a yacht marina and therefore good access to shops and restaurants. There is a good deal to do besides beach; Tatihou Island is very highly recommended as is Museum de la Liberte Retrouve which focuses on life for French people under invasion and occupation.Guest review byEd MackUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The Parc du Marais is well worth a visit as are the West Coast resorts on the peninsula. Best choice of restaurants and a pretty town to explore is Barfleur but there are good, informal, brasseries and restaurants all around. If you wish to go to Isle de Tatihou, pre-book. The ferry will be sold out if you turn up on-spec.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0
