The cathedral was absolutely magnificent as expected but the sound and light show at night was an amazing surprise. Was very quiet on a rainy September day. Maybe visit a bit earlier in the season, the city looks like it would have a good vibe. Take a good walk around as there are many old buildings to see with around 20 featured in the illuminations.Guest review byDeniseUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This is a really charming and lovely town with much to recommend it, but for me it was the museum...while small it has some exquisite treasures. I went to Dreux to see the four Romanesque capitals in the museum collection and they did not disappoint! And there were some other unexpected surprises there, too. Highly recommend a visit to Dreux.Guest review byJamesUnited States - 4.0

A very quiet “town” - though more a big village- in a convenient location between Chartres and our main destination of Le Mans. You will be lucky to find a restaurant that is open in the evenings!!! Don’t plan on more than 2 nights here!! We just visited Chartres. Had hoped to have a wander through the National Park but no information readily available.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Bathroom had the previous guests toilet roll, a quarter of a roll . Yes there was a new one but the OLD ONE should nt have been left.At the entrance to the hotel---- Plants dead in the pots, weeds in the border by the car park Bin by the front entrance overflowing A bad impression on arriving Next morning one lavender per huge pot diameter60cm had been placed in the two giant pots by the front door A poor showGuest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Wonderful , little known gem of a place. The locals have put so much effort into tourism , but it’s still quiet . Beautiful , historic, traditional and warm and friendly community . Very interesting history , lovely bait rides, wall murals and illuminations at night throughout out summer.Guest review byVictoriaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Restaurant was good at midday.
Restaurant was good at midday. Unfortunately they did not have staff to open in the evening but recommended a nice place just up the street. We complained about a smoker in the bar but the staff did nothing about it.Guest review byStephenUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The Old Town is lovely.
The Old Town is lovely. Plenty of places to eat, friendly atmosphere, easy to walk around. Check out the Tourist Information office (great building), and of course, the Cathedral. Obviously beautiful, inside and out. Do stay up to see the Illuminations, not just those on the Cathedral, but also those set about the town - a pleasant and romantic (!) walk, even under an umbrella.Guest review bysteveUnited Kingdom - 4.0

I live in Evesham which is the twin town of Dreux and the Campanile hotel does not show the town of Dreux in a favourable light. The hotel and its staff are merely adequate and the restaurant facilities abysmal. On our visit on Monday the 15th May the restaurant was open but the food was not of a quality one would expect and staff were smoking, this is unacceptable. We had already booked for Thursday the 18th and decided to overlook our concerns and return, unfortunately when we arrived we were told that the restaurant was closed whilst the staff were enjoying a barbecue on the terrace and again smoking in the restaurant area. I would have thought that we might have been informed of the closure on our previous visit. Whilst this hotel is in a convenient location I am afraid we will not be returning.Guest review byChristopherUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We usually use Chartres as on overnight stop for travelling further south and it's always a pleasant town to visit. The Son et Lumiere display on the Cathedral and other locations around the town centre are always amazing. The central old town is lovely to wander round with plenty of restaurants offering well priced, good quality food, not a fast food chain outlet in sight!Guest review byClareUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Dreux has some interesting historical buildings but it's beauty is in its people. They were ALL really friendly and went out of their way to help me. I was walking into the city from the GR22 and got lost, asked a man the way, and he stopped what he was doing and drove me to Centreville. Another man showed me where the Office of Tourism was. The man at the train station was friendly and funny. I really loved Dreux. It also has a great range of shops. The cemetery is very interesting.Guest review byLouise
