- From US$105.23 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 239 reviewsWe had an amazing stay in Chateaux d'Orleix. I was travelling with my 93 year old mom and they went out of their way to help and make us comfortable. They even changed her room to a downstairs one to avoid the stairs for her. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast amazing and very fresh, the croissants are yummy. The facilities, both in the room and outside are great. Nice pool with enough chairs and parasols, barbecue area, games like darts and jeu de boules. Everything very clean and well-maintained. Location is a bit remote in a small village, so car is recommended to visit all the beauty in the surroundings like The Pyrenees, Lourdes, Tarbes and so on. We were very lucky to see all the 14 Juillet celebrations and to visit the concert of Andrea Bocelli in Lourdes. We had an amazing time and cherish the memories. Thank you all staff at Chateau d'Orleix for making our stay unforgettable.Guest review byamandaNetherlands
- From US$150.83 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 682 reviewsThe breakfast was OK for what the normal hotels in the area are offering. The coffee was quite good, not perfect but good for what you can get in the are. There were several things one could choose at the breakfast so, in general, it was OK. The staff in the restaurant was also nice, polite and pleasant. Of course, everything spotless. The gym was a pleasant suprise. I found newer and better sport devices. It is a pity that the room is small. However, this is a plus! Well done! A special remark for the rooms: they look excellent. The layout and the design of the room with the glass walls bathroom and the shower next to the bathtub is very pleasant. The architect did a good job. THe rooms look special, in the good wayGuest review byRolandGermany

It’s such a cute little place and every detail is perfect. The owners are really kind. We also liked the spa area. The location is perfect for hiking. We were there in September. There is also a Supermarkt next to the chalets.Guest review byIsabellGermany

The manager of the restaurant is tremendous. Breakfasts were excellent as where the two evening meals we had in the hotel restaurant. We would especially recommend the Fondue/Raclette. Hotel and rooms were kept spotlessly clean. Religious touristy to the max. But, honestly- isn’t that why you go there? Quaint French town, easily walkable. Many fine eating places: particularly recommend the Asian/Filipino Restaurant. Need taxi for airport/train.Guest review bySteven D. HobbsUnited States - 10.0

I have visited Tarbes 3 times , this was in order to participate in the annual Tango Festival, this takes place during August. Whilst Tarbes is a pleasant enough town, I'm not sure that I would want to spend too much time there otherwise.Guest review byJamesUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Amazing place to base yourself for time in the Pyrenees.
Amazing place to base yourself for time in the Pyrenees. We stayed for a week and could have stayed a few more days. Tons of hikes, waterfalls, water activities, and climbing within an hour's drive (but many places are much closer than that). My one piece of advice would be to make dinner reservations ahead of time or order your takeout early because most places fill up really fast and even the pizza places stopped taking orders early in the evening because they filled up so quickly! It's a great place though, and we really enjoyed our time there.Guest review byLeslieFrance - 10.0

I love this village, very well situated between Pic du Midi, Gavarnie, and Pont d'Espagne directions. It has everything you need as a tourist: supermarkets and specialty stores (wine, cheese, etc), restaurants, a small market, a tourist office, parks, and several walking trails around the valley (ask for a map in the tourist office), a spa center... And it has beautiful architecture. Also a center for bike tourism and ski/snowboarding. During summer an animal center is open for families.Guest review byAlinaPortugal - 10.0

Argeles-Gazost is a good size town with a range of restaurants and shops plus a big market on Tuesdays (food & other goods). Away from the old town there are supermarkets and other shops. Our favourite place to eat dinner was Cafe-Hotel Les Fleurs. The local bakeries were all good but Patisserie Vignau Jean had the most impressive choice of cakes and tarts. Another find was the microbrewery "La brasserie du pays des gaves" who offer charcuterie boards alongside a range of beers. We made use of the local busses to access walks near Gavernie (seasonal service) and Cauterets for Lac de Gaube & Pont d'Espagna. On a future visit would love to explore the valley by bike along the greenway.Guest review byHeikeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This little ski town truly has gorgeous views and is in a very beautiful natural setting. I wish we had been able to stay for more than just one night, but I’m glad we got a chance to go! Getting around is easy on foot. The town has lots of cafés and little shops. It also has a great outdoor gear store and a large shoe shop! When we were there a concert was being played and it was lovely to hear it from the outside of the structure where it was being played. It gave a very nice cozy feel to the experience.Guest review byAnneUnited States - 10.0

Bagneres-de Bigorre is a place of healing and chambre des Pamlmier is the perfect place to stay. With only two rooms it is a quiet retreat in a beautiful setting, yet close walking distance to the town. The hostess Christine goes out of her way to make guests comfortable. Age accommodated my gluten free and lactose free needs. The spa in Bagneres de Bigorre is worth a visit and I recommend bringing an extra towel. The mountains are spectacular and if you’re a cyclist this is a dream spot.Guest review byellymorgan@telus.netCanada - 10.0

Tarbes is a wonderful small city, with many nice hotels, just not the one we stayed in. Brasserie des Halles does a brilliant lunch. L’Arsenal has many lively bars and activities. The city has much culture and is reknowned fir its sport including rugby and especially fencing at Amicale Tarbes Escrime. Close to Lourdes, the Pyrenees and with easy access via Tarbes airport.Guest review byPeterFrance - 10.0

Cauterets is lovely town in the middle of the Pyrenees with amazing views of the mountains. A good base if you like hiking or cycling. It has a market with lots of yummy food, bakeries, restaurants and other shops. There are quite a few hotels and lots of apartments, so a great summer destination.Guest review byjannaUnited Kingdom
