Lovely city to visit, just go and try.
Lovely city to visit, just go and try. There was an amazing open market to explore (Tuesday) and we found some great places to eat. Only stayed a couple of nights, I would recommend 3 or 4. We traveled on Interrail and took a train direct from Paris Lyon to Montpellier Sud de France. It’s was fast about 3 hours. The station is out of town but we discovered that they are opening up a new line (Oct 2025) to link up with Montpellier station itself so you can change and not take a taxi or try you luck with a bus that could take 45mins. That’s going to make a huge difference.Guest review byAdrian RodgersUnited Kingdom - 10

Exactly as expected, easy to walk around, beautifully restored, plenty of cafes and restaurants, people very friendly. Can recommend a guided walking tour with Natalie and definitely worth buying ticket for castle and ramparts walk.Guest review byMarionUnited Kingdom - 10
Beautiful city with some awesome Roman architecture.
Beautiful city with some awesome Roman architecture. Never felt in any sort of danger even while walking around the outskirts at 10pm. The bus to Pont du Gard is amazing value at only 2 euros each way (It's a good 20km out of town).Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10

Lots of interesting bars and restaurants situated on either side of the canal. The cathedral is well worth visiting. There is also Les Halles covered market. A large open market takes place on Sunday around the canal. If you are a fan of Charles Trenet then a visit to his house/Museum is an absolutely must ~ fascinating. It’s within easy walking distance just over the railway line.Guest review byWatson - 10

Lovely little gem of a town, lots of medieval history and a good food and drinks scene. People are really friendly and a lot speak a bit of English if your French isn’t very good! It’s a very walkable town as well, and I recommend the little train tour to give you some history and context for the place.Guest review byCarolineUnited Kingdom - 10
Beziers is a small city with a long history.
Beziers is a small city with a long history. We enjoyed wandering the old streets as well as walking further afield to visit the 9 locks on the canal du midi. There are spectacular views from the cathedral and lots of excellent restaurants. Tracking down the trompe l'oeil frescoes on the walls of buildings is a fun thing to do. Don't miss the Parc des Poetes which is very pretty to stroll around. The station is about 20 minutes walk from the historic centre and is currently (October 2025) undergoing extensive renovations to the roads in front. All buses (including the navette to the airport) and taxis currently leave from the rear.Guest review byLesleyUnited Kingdom - 10

Don't go to Rome. Sete is much better. The amphitheatre is a must see. The town also doesn't feel very touristy. We felt like locals roaming the streets and finding great cafes and restaurantsGuest review byCathyCanada - 8.0

La Grand Motte is pleasant and has numerous bars and cafes. The beach area is clean and looked after. It's not the most sophisticated seaside town but it's probably got something for most people.Guest review byLenUnited Kingdom - 10

Everything is very central, so there is no need for transport unless you want to visit outside the town. The beaches are clean and safe with lifeguards on duty. There are many restaurants and all the restaurants we tried produced excellent food and wine at very reasonable prices. The walk to Port Vendres takes around 30 minutes on a very safe path. It's well worth a visit. There is a large choice of cafes and bars and a good market on Saturday mornings. The coastal path to Argeles Sur Mer is a lovely coastal walk, it's quite steep in places but well worth the effort. Carcassonne is less than 2 hours on the train. We went on a Sunday for 2 Euros return. It's a historical city famous for its mendiaval citadel.Guest review byGibson - 10

Cap d‘Agde is very nice destination with plenty of yacht ports and a few different beaches nearby. You can find there both restaurants, shops and disco clubs. Many small apartments with some with swimming pools. Big Aquapark and paid swimming pool are also in the area. There are buses to Agde and Gare where you can change to another bus to the airport but they do not go very often. Generally I do recommend.Guest review byOlgaIreland
