We stayed at the 4 star Oceania in Nantes for just one night and wish we had booked it for the two nights we had spent the week before at the supposed 4 star Novotel on the Loire which is more like 3 star maximum there! No comparison with the Oceania which was fresh, clean, characterful being a converted stableyard and home to the owner ( Graslin) in the 18th century after whom the Place Graslin is named . Halle de Pommeraye and shopping street of rue Crebillon leading down to the place Royale, literally out of the arched enclosed courtyard entrance and excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk like la Cigale !

An exceptional small hotel with very modern and high quality interiors. The room (for a family of 4) was spacious and clean, the beds very comfortable and hotel itself was very peaceful. The staff were excellent, very helpful and accommodating and check-in / check-out was fast & simple. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of local options. We stayed after spending a long day at Puy du Fou, which is only 10 minutes away, so the location is excellent and was a perfect place to rest & recharge. We recommend the hotel very highly.

    We have been to St Jean and Le Bois Dormant a few times. Its always good to stay there. The staff were very helpful Esther on the front desk in particular. The camp facilities were good and the 2new" food facility at the gate excellent ( the chips/fries from the existing place are brilliant too!) No complaints about the cleanliness or anything else on the main camp.

    The location was perfect for us. Very friendly and professional staff at check in. The mobile home was very clean and was fully equipped. Bed linen is available for a small extra charge. The on-site bar and restaurant is very good too. There is also a small shop selling basic groceries and fresh pastries everyday. All in all a great place to stay.

    The peace and quiet at a relaxing seafront location was welcome after arriving on the motorbikes soaked to the skin. Staff went out of their way to assist us and make us comfortable as quickly as possible. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the breakfast was well above standard.     There is lots to see and learn about Nantes. If you are interested in history Nantes has plenty. You can spend a day in the Chateau just looking at its history. Would have liked more time to explore the wine areas and their muscadet.

    The Le Mans museum and circuit was the only place we visited but that was great fun. From driving through it had maxed neighbourhoods and there is significant road works happening at the moment which causes lots of diversions.

    Angers city is easily accessible from Nantes by train.

    Angers city is easily accessible from Nantes by train. (35Mins). Take a walk along the far side of the old bridge from the food hall and find the restaurants sited along the river bank, where most of the locals hang out. River boat trips can also be booked from this location. The Chateau museum is well worth a visit and provides a history and views of the city.

    Saumur is a gem of a town, there are so many activities that you can participate in, whether cycling, kayaking, walking around the historic town or going for the famous degustation at one of the numerous vineyards that are within easy distance. It is also the gateway to dozens of chateau. There are cruises on the river to suit most budgets and restaurants from the basic to the expensive. There are also various markets and festivities that take place. If you have time the Petits Train is a must, forty minutes being driven around the historic town gives you a new perspective on life, especially the view from the right bank which lets you enjoy the historic panorama on the left bank.

    We had a great stay with Jerome & Ye. The accommodation is ideally located in the centre of Cholet 5 minutes walk from the main square with a car park with VERY reasonable rate next door. We ate at Le Grande Cafe and La Conti Brasserie as we were too tired from busy days at Puy du Fou to walk any further!

    Les Sables d'Olone is a lovely seaside resort on the coast of the Vendée, and visiting is a delightfully French experience - the architecture, the lovely beach, the bars and restaurants - it's a truly lovely place. There's plenty to see and do there, the people are friendly, and there are plenty of places to stay. It's an attractive mix of old-fashioned and modern, with the added benefit of plenty of street parking. It's a great place to go and unwind for a few days, and I'll most definitely be going back.

    The people are very welcoming and it was easy to get a car park. We ate at 'Les Halles', in the town centre, which was awesome due to a large variety of food proposed. There is a museum and a castle within the town centre, which are accessible by foot.

    Honestly, this is just not ok in 2025.

    Honestly, this is just not ok in 2025. I sleep about 160 nights per year in a hotel, normally 3 stars. F1 after their refurbishments is simply better. Wherever I go in "premiere classe", it's always like: "animals might just sleep here but not us". INVEST guys, how this chain survives, I don't know. Don't be mistaken, just a low price is not enough to survive. Knowing your business is, and that is never the case, in whatever "hotel" of them you sleep. Personally, this is my refuge when I need to sleep and have no other, more human options. All depending of my routing. Just do something, enjoy your business, make a proud company for owners and employees. Either the hotel chain doesn't have any money to invest or they don't want to. Either way, this goes bust one day as I strongly believe, after at least 10 years with, thank God, maximum 10 nights in this chain, will never happen.

    Friendly and picturesque neighbourhood, with great little local shops and well-stocked small supermarket on the way to the enormous beach. Beach has lots of options for wind-sports hire, and other water activities. The beach cafes looked nice. Easy going, obviously some money around, a casino further down the prom. Almost exclusively French visitors and residents when we were there in mid-July. Appartment right next to train station, for easy SNCF to adjoining towns and Nantes. Nantes is fantastic and a highly recommended day trip. See the elephant! I was there with older kids, would be great with young ones too, or couple or solo.

In general, the area around the Nantes Atlantic Airport is an industry area, car parks, warehouses. It is not a pleasant place to walk around. The airport is so small and nearly couldn't handle the demand of people or it only lacks of good management. I believe that they are going to build a new airport, bigger, more modern very soon. We go there because we could have a direct flight to a few destinations from there. The long term car park is at reasonable price. All this makes our trips well time managed. There could be some pleasant places to visit but I am not aware of. And you need to have a car. The connections between Nantes City Centre and the airport is still confusing. And there should be paid navette serving the Airport and the near by beautiful areas. So the travellers without transport could have more choices of hotels instead of paying a high price to the rare few hotels opposite the airport. Thank you for an opportunity to share my thoughts.
