- From $609.53 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 416 reviewsThis place has views unlike any other hotel! It was one of the most lovely and whimsical places I’ve ever stayed. Behind the hotel is a beautiful mountain which seems to always have paragliding happening. The other side is the beautiful lake where you can sit on chairs right next to the water while you eat and drink wine. The character and history of the building was beautiful. The staff was excellent, especially the waiters and waitresses. I am vegan and my boyfriend vegetarian, they were more than happy to make us amazing meals! There is a plant based menu for dinner as well which we were so happy to see. The food is wonderful and beautifully presented. They have a nice parking lot for people who drive there and have bikes you can rent which I highly recommend. We will definitely try to return soon!Guest review byNatalieUnited States

From the warm welcome to the small thoughtful touches throughout our stay, everything was handled with care and attention. They went out of their way to ensure we felt celebrated and relaxed, creating a peaceful and romantic atmosphere that we’ll always remember. Their kindness, professionalism, and dedication added so much to our experience—it was the perfect start to our journey together.Guest review byAmmarUnited States
- From $340.98 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 714 reviewsThe room was spacious, with a view of Mont Blanc wayyy in the distance. The grounds of the chateau are absolutely gorgeous. And the aquasens spa was a great way to spend a nice morning, which my husband and I loved. I messaged the staff my questions about booking spa time and wine tours, and they were very responsive and friendly. The amenities are the best part. 10/10 stay and if we lived closer, we'd definitely would be back!Guest review byKimberlyUnited States

We are older (68 and 78) and we still enjoyed the energy and the music in the bar. Location in Lyon is great for exploring the Confluence area and the Museum. Fun place. Great staff!Guest review byAdreeUnited States

A beautiful and relaxed city.
A beautiful and relaxed city. The old town is wonderful with its cobbled streets and history. Everyone was graceful with our lack of French. Despite protests, we felt very safe in the city both night and day. Great shopping too.Guest review byDebraAustralia - 10.0

Gorgeous gem of a place - medieval streets of great character with flowing streams between. The newer parts of town are handsome; there is little motor traffic and everything is well kept. Defo a safe place to be. If you enjoy cycling, Annecy is a cycling town with lots of young children, or deliveries, conveyed by bike. In this respect it’s what every town should aim for. The lake is a wonder: tall, jagged cream coloured mountains behindsun dappled water. The cycle route around it is easy and has several ‘velo cafes’ alongside to restore your energy! (The town contains numerous bike hire shops.) The lake has several swimming places (and a beach at St Jorioz). We visited in perfect weather in mid September and we were surprised at just how busy the old town had become. Definitely a honey trap kind of place.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Chamonix was a nice mountain town, with a pleasant dining district. We found it to be very pedestrian-friendly. We enjoyed the walking paths that lead up and down the valley. We could have used a little more information or maps about the hiking just outside the town.Guest review byRussell - 10.0
Beautiful city with mountains all around.
Beautiful city with mountains all around. Generally people look healthy out and about running or on their bikes and there is an obvious commitment to environmental issues. The museum is the best art gallery I have ever been to! Easy city to be out and about in with so many inviting cafes and bars and spectacular views from the telegraphiqueGuest review bykatieUnited Kingdom - 4.0
To be honest, Valence is an ugly city.
To be honest, Valence is an ugly city. The Rhone flows through it but alas large motorways beside it. The centre is a bit run down. If you are on your way and are near it, you can visit the centre and have something to eat. There is a nice park near the river.Guest review bybNetherlands - 8.0
Interesting town with cultural heritage.
Interesting town with cultural heritage. I was just passing through en route from Italy to London but it is a perfect stopover for one night. Unfortunately I was there on a Monday, when some attractions eg the castle are closed but I did visit the cathedral. There are many restaurants which sell local produce.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Aix-les-Bains is a very pleasant town on the shores of the biggest lake in France: Lake Bouget. There are lots of restaurants and places to visit including a Casino, mountains and water sports. If you can, we recommend you try the boat cruse around the lake and include a meal on board.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom - 2.0

The bed bugs. toilet paper . I made 3 separate booking .You have to buy your own Toilet paper .room cleaning is extra charge .If I booked 3 times in separate occasions they must be doing the bed and give the cleaned room to me no matter its same room . I paid full price .There was a bug at the window and Room220 is right at the road where Tram runs 24 hours almost .Christina is very rude so be firm with her .The rest of girls are really nice and speaks some English.Christina does not know English at all .She should not be working at a hotel where mostly Foreigners stays .Guest review byfouziaCanada - 10.0

We were on a mission to revisit Parc de Merlet with our grandaughter thirty-six years after we took her mother. The Parc delivered, with Chamois, Mouflon and Marmots to enjoy. The views from accommodation on that side of the valley are the best in the valley. In Les Houches village, the local patisserie was visited and a different cake enjoyed every day. There were plenty of paths (including Tour de Mont Blanc) into the forest, for walks from the chalet. Wonderful Alpine wildlife is easy to find. It was convenient to take the free train into Chamonix and take a ride to Le Brevent then walk the ridge and back to the chalet. We did the Mer de Glas, to from Chamonix. We went up to Bellevue on the teleferique and walked across the alp, finding several wild flowers and even a rare Wart-Biter Grasshopper! We then took the Tramway du Mont Blanc down to Saint-Gervais-Les-Bains and had a lovely afternoon in the beautiful park. There was a very tough Via Ferrata for the over 70s (with 50 years experience) and a Go Ape-type circuit with a rock-climb included in the trail for the 10-year-old and her Mamma, then train back to Les Houches. One weekend evening was lively down in the village, but up on the hill we could sit out in relative calm and stare at the sunset on snowy Mont Blanc, stars and the torch-lights of mountaineers picking their way down. All-in-all, very relaxing.Guest review byValerie - 10.0
Lyon is a nice city with a town mentality (a good thing).
Lyon is a nice city with a town mentality (a good thing). Green areas within walking distance. Pleasant parks and public gardens without crowds. Lots of drinking water fountains. MAC (museum of contemporary art) is really worth visiting. The city centre is a bit crowded but that's nothing compared to overwhelming Paris. Regarding the Villeurbanne itself, river banks are green, no beaches, waffle booths or "tourists" with portable speakers near the river. The streets are mostly empty, though singing and shouting students sometimes appear. A nice quiet district in my opinion. Unfortunately not many food options, you need to go to Lyon centre for something more fancy than student's dinner.Guest review byTeodorPoland
