- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 445 reviewsThe Holiday Homes are really a great find! The views are just stunning and the cabins are modern and very comfy. The kitchen is well-equipped and the information prior to arrival ensures that you have everything you need before you arrive. We spent 3 nights and we could easily have spent more time staying there. The water was cut off due to a storm and the owners were super nice in bringing us water and ensuring we were comfortable.Guest review byAndreaSouth Africa

The room we had was a generous size with a super comfortable king size bed. It was warm and soundproof with a lovely view of Ben Lomond and the Loch. The room was carefully thought out with plenty of charge and power points. The bathroom was clean and modern with plenty of hot water. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent.Guest review byJacquiAustralia

Oban was great. My booking through Booking.com was terrible.
Oban was great. My booking through Booking.com was terrible. The hotel (Great Western Hotel) was a mess. Booked a third floor “Family Room” ($270), two beds. Upon arrival the elevator (lift) was not working nor had it been working for 8 days before our arrival. My partner uses a cane/walker. Had to walk up the first flight of stairs, even the front desk mentioned she could not walk the stairs as she was winded with the first flight. Offered a first floor room, one bed that was so small you could not get around. Offered a second room… a bit larger but still one bed the carpet had holes, mold in the walls, bathroom was dirty. We opted for a new property again booked through Booking.com. Booking.com offered us a 20pound voucher for our troubles. We have used Booking.com as our go to online booking site. We will no longer be using booking.com as they are willing to book you, but will not back up their booking. Booking.com through reviews (if they cared) would have noticed the negative comments being made. yet still was booking through the website. Even contacting Booking.com my calls were dropped or sent to a dead line.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 10.0

I took a fishing rod and on the first night had bbq mackerel on the banks of Loch lomand as its very close. The hills are walking distance from the hotel so on the second day we walked up Ben ime. The views are spectacular if you have not been to the west of Scotland you willl be impressed and the location is so close to Glasgow, difficult to believe a large city is so close.Guest review byDr BeeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I stay here two weeks a month and love the feel of the town/village. Very friendly locals and "amazing food" at the Inverary Inn, Brambles, Ocho and Samphire fish restaurant. HIGHLY recommend a visitGuest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Picturesque fishing town definitely worth a visit.
Picturesque fishing town definitely worth a visit. Access from the ferry port is via narrow roads with passing places. Numerous walks especially enjoyed the trail to the lighthouse. Distillery and cheese factory are a must. Good restaurant and art at the gallery on the seafrontGuest review byLesUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Luss is a quaint little town with not many facilities but a useful local store. We were there for the Highland Games which were a fabulous life experience. The loch is gorgeous and the surrounding mountains are stunning.Guest review byCynthiaUnited States - 10.0

This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from Glasgow - we took an afternoon bus to Tarbert and got private transport to Kennakraig ferry terminal the morning after. The town was lovely, with a nice castle and a couple of good restaurants as well as a pub with plenty of whisky options. We might have even stayed a bit longer had we known it was such a lovely place.Guest review byManuel E.Poland - 10.0

Kintyre is absolutely gorgeous - so beautiful, unspoilt, rugged and wonderful. Campbeltown used to be a little run-down but it was looking pretty good with lots of independent shops, two distilleries and a busy yacht harbour. Campbeltown is a good base if you need buses and amenities and for shopping in supermarkets.Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Regular ferries.
Regular ferries. Lots of catering and pubs and quirky shops. Beautiful old churches and regular activities in the Castle House museum and the Burgh Hall. Swimminig, cinema, supermarkets. Lovely nature trails, walks and climbs within walking distance of town centre.Guest review bySTEVENUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Whilst Pennygate Lodge is a lovely guest house we found Craignure a very drab functional place. We might have been better staying in Tobermory though the available accommodation there was not as good. Two storms approaching from the west starting with torrential rain did not help make our visit to Craignure very pleasant. Close to ferry of course which is a positive. However nearby Duart Castle well worth a visit.Guest review byJanUnited Kingdom
