- From US$587.02 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 117 reviewsSettled in the Dartmoor national park, it is a very quiet and comforting get away. You can have a short walk with children from there as well as long ones. Plenty of nice activities in the hotel (boardgames, crocket, tennis, walks). The place is full of charm and history. The staff is extremely kind and efficient. They made the stay easy for a single parent, offering private dining. The kids menu was varied, delicious and decently priced. The restaurant was a treat for me as well.Guest review bySarahBelgium
- From US$207.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 213 reviewsBreakfast was very good, eggs, toast and smoked kippers with strong hot coffee. The history of Oxenham Arms is amazing. So many fascinating figures have stayed here. One of our hosts, John, was full of facts and anecdotes, obviously very proud of the place! We took his advice on a hike nearby and it was one of the highlights of our UK trip.Guest review byLeslieCanada

Staff were very nice and attentive. Food was very good and helpings were quite substantial. Our room had a lovely balcony with a table and seating just a pity it was raining. We left early morning so missed breakfast but I’m sure breakfast would have been excellent.Guest review byRobertPortugal
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 100 reviewsIt was a lovely, quiet location with plenty to do. We were greeted by chloe the dog on arrival and had a brief tour of the farm. The accommodation was clean and cosy and the perfect size for a couple. The added little welcome pack (milk in the fridge and a basket of snacks) really made it. We I wouldn't hesitate to visit again :)Guest review byHarrietUnited Kingdom

We had the most fantastic meal, so many courses, such great flavours. The chef asked what sort of food we liked in advance and the meal was superb. We will be back. The staff team were attentive and very nice. We felt well looked after.Guest review byNickyUnited Kingdom

Small country town with character. an excellent starting point for a holiday in Devon, Dartmoor on the doorstep and other parts of Devon not too far away. In our one overnight stay we got unsolicited help from a young lad and an older man ... a friendly place! Great meal at the Union Inn.Guest review byGeoffUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Chagford is a gorgeous friendly little place with plenty of lovely coffee shops, eateries and shops too. Lovely places to walk too. Our favourite breakfast place was the Birdcage cafe and our favourite pubs for food of an evening were the three crowns and th Ring o Bells.Guest review byTraci WhiteUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We visited Lydford specifically for the gorge.
We visited Lydford specifically for the gorge. The Whitelady waterfall was lovely but a very long steep trek for just one waterfall. The Devils Cauldren was the highlight. A shorter, but more tricky, walk. Amazing sheer sides with a roaring river in the bottom. Steps clinging to the sheer sides with just a single hand rail to hang on to. No dogs or children allowed in the more hazardous bits. I was alternately amazed and terrified.Guest review byBellUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I stayed at Hexworthy and had no car so can't really comment on surrounding attractions, but there were a variety of beautiful walks by brooks and rivers and over the moors. The walk around Venford Reservoir was lovely too.Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Ashburton is a charming little town in a beautiful setting, full of character and plenty of independent shops. From jewellery and antique stores to cake and coffee shops, there’s lots to explore. The locals were incredibly friendly, and even the local Spar and Co-op stayed open quite late, which was really convenient.Guest review bypopat - 10.0
Room was a family room, 2 bedroom very clean.
Room was a family room, 2 bedroom very clean. Make sure you drive the A road up to the property not the B road if you don’t like height’s. Bar stops serving food at 9pm so if travelling late maybe ask them to save you something or make a sandwich. Remember you are high up so the weather can be very different to what it is further down the hill.Guest review byBradford - 10.0
