Canterbury is 'bathed' in much history and archcitecture...
Canterbury is 'bathed' in much history and archcitecture that reminds of you how well and asthetic thinking went into buildings made a few hundred years ago. Restaurants tea/coffee rooms are abundant. Good shopping area with all you could wish for. Make the most of culture with a museum etc, two theatres and some great pubs with lots of character!!!!! Find 'The Parrot' pub (14th century) out of the way but well worth a visit! Don't forget the cathedral - beautiful...even if you only look at it from the outside! We are 'city freaks' and so glad we made sure that Canterbury was an experience we haven't missed! You can easily get a train to Margate and other destinations.,Guest review byKerryUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Folkestone has retained much of its old world charm.
Folkestone has retained much of its old world charm. It is a very old town with a lot of interesting history, from smuggling to being a main port for departure and arrival from France for many years. It is surrounded by gently rolling hills and is only about a 45 minute drive to Canterbury. Folkestone's main shopping street has many small shops as well as a Sainsbury, Asda and Lidl store all close by. The old high street is very picturesque with a steep slope and a cobbled road. Folkestone harbour is a good place to visit and there is both a sandy beach and shingle beaches.Guest review byJo MiltonUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Townscape is quite tired and run down making it feel a bit unsafe around the edges. Sad because there are remnants of what would have been a lovely location. Francos in the shopping centre does a lovely breakfast! Italian restaurant Vesuvius in Lower Stone Street does lovely food too ..Guest review byTinaUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Ashford Town is a complete dump it lets down Ashford.
Ashford Town is a complete dump it lets down Ashford. It felt really depressing just walking through it.Hardly any shops in the town. The Ashford outlet is amazing but designer shops are not what everyone wants. Lovely parks around. Bowling is good. Shame the Ashford International is not open.Guest review byJudyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Good choice of shops and restaurants.
Good choice of shops and restaurants. Good transport links if no car, i.e. regular buses for local trips or nearby towns including Hastings and Tunbridge and Railway Station (Hastings an hour away by train). Worth a visit to Museum and Art Gallery. Lovely parks including Calverley Park - easily accessible from town (walking) for a coffee or ice cream! Enjoy!!Guest review byAudreyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The Dover Castle was lots of fun and was well organized for visitors of all ages. The war tunnels on the other hand were poorly organized and should be reorganized in order to help make them more interesting. The films on the walls explaining the historical events were difficult to understand due to the echo. The significance of the tunnels could be made more hands on for the younger generation to grasp. The Cliffs of Dover- easily a days experience and excellent hike and picnic opportunities along the way.Guest review byEllenIsrael - 6.0
The room itself was clean and tidy.
The room itself was clean and tidy. Once in the room found the tv wouldn't work properly and bought the staff up and they couldn't get it to work either. The onsite restaurant was under renovation so no dinner or Breakfast though there was an eatery next door bar one and the food was lovely thereGuest review byJimmy CUnited Kingdom - 6.0
I have to say that Gravesend is not the prettiest of towns...
I have to say that Gravesend is not the prettiest of towns with many derelict buildings. The most impressive building in the town is the Sikh Temple. The town is very busy with traffic but is fairly easy to navigate around. We stayed in a very pleasant guest house outside of town which was perfect for going to Leo's Music Venue. This is the only reason we came to Gravesend. We ate at The Three Daws pub which has been pretty good on both times we visited. Traditional British Pub with a good British Menu. We had breakfast at The Hot Rod American Diner in Northfleet which again was very good!Guest review byFlotsam & JetsamUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We attended for an event.
We attended for an event. The accommodation was perfect as near to the beach as we could get. I enjoyed watching various vessels with binoculars from the top floor of our accommodation. There was plenty of places to eat and we loved eating in the wonderful outdoor places before the Harbour Arm. The scenery was beautiful and everyone was very accommodating. I would love to go again but stay longer. We didn't travel really once there as there was everything we wanted where we were within walking distance.Guest review bySusan - 10.0
I love the variety of independent shops.
I love the variety of independent shops. The seafront, harbour area and little streets are really interesting. I swam in the sea and enjoyed restful hours on the beach. The vintage stores, charity shops and clothes shops are friendly and welcoming and I bought some nice gifts for friends and for myself. Windy Corner Stores does a great breakfast and coffee. The Whitstable Oyster restaurant was fantastic. Ossie's fish and chips were very good. It is so easy to get around Whitstable and I also got the bus into Canterbury one day for shopping and sightseeing.Guest review bySylviaUnited Kingdom
