- From US$60.63 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.4Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 11,562 reviewsThe hotel is in a very good location, near the beach and the promenade, with a building rich in history. The architecture and history are beautiful. It used to be luxurious, and that's still noticeable. Our room was on the 5th floor. Comfortable bed, renovated bathroom, dry, and clean. I especially want to mention the staff. My son got sick with a high fever, and we needed a late checkout at 5 p.m. They accommodated us without charging for an extra night and allowed us to stay for a very symbolic additional fee. We definitely want to come back.Guest review byBogdanUkraine
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 201 reviewsThis was a beautiful gem of a place the location was amazing to use as a base to explore what Yorkshire has to offer. The lodge was clean and beautifully decorated and had a comfortable homely feeling to it making it easy to instantly relax into the peace and quiet. The extra touches that I asked for for my partner's 40th birthday (banners, cake, mulled wine and a box of chocolates) were excellent quality and a lovely surprise for my partner walking in.Guest review byHelenUnited Kingdom

Anything that we requested was presented to us, nothing was too much trouble from a smiling team of morning staff. Our room as always was warm cosy and comfortable. There was a good choice in the bistro for our evening meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. A very pleasant accommodating group of evening staff. ThanksGuest review byMAURICEUnited Kingdom

Lots of good restaurants & coffee shops especially the famous BETTY’S cafe & restaurant which nestles in an elegant setting with service to match. Harrogate is also close to the Bronte family’s house museum & chapel.Guest review byRoseUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Great place for coastal walks and trying local beers.
Great place for coastal walks and trying local beers. Plenty of history regarding Captain Cook, and the Dracula legend. The beach looks like it would be great in summer, we visited off season so all we did was walk along it. It looks like there would be plenty of sightseeing trips by boat, and fishing trips, available in summer. There is a great variety of restaurants, pubs, and smaller hotels, which should cater for most tastes. The emphasis is on fish dishes, and local beers and gins. There's no need for a car around town, but it is hilly. Bring decent walking shoes!Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It's a hilly place but that doesn't distract from the town. There's a great pedestrianised shopping area, plenty of fantastic places to eat. Some narrow roads are best avoided when in a car so don't always follow your satnav. The views from the top are fantastic and walking around the bays is refreshing and interesting. If you like Indian food try the Royal Tandori for a good portioned tasty meal.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

This is a lovely and picturesque town in the incomparably lovely Yorkshire dales. There is a lovely market square with nice shops and restaurants, a fabulous Georgean theatre, a terrific castle to explore, and a nearby ruined abby that is an easy walk from the centre of town. (Every town needs a ruined abbey, right?)Guest review byBeverleeCanada - 8.0

Selby is a very pleasant place with some nice bars, good pubs and a cathedral that holds some fun events. The Jinnah restaurant was a good shout for a pre-event meal and The Doghouse Craft Beer bar was an excellent choice for a late drink.Guest review byShawnUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We weren't there long enough to really get to know the village (town?) but it looked as if there were some interesting walks for the dogs, an interesting river, birdwatching oportunities etc, and quite a few pubs for a place that size! Always a good shout. It also lacked a really busy main road cutting through (at least, from where we were staying) so not much traffic noise and easy to get about without getting knocked down!Guest review byo loan - 10.0
Well what can I say an absolute little jewel of a town.
Well what can I say an absolute little jewel of a town. Plenty to see from the town square and high street. Down to the river walks, The Lady Chapel, The Castle. River boats (but only till October) Mother Shipton's Cave. Got to mention the very quaint and beautiful railway station. It is quite hilly but with patience and care it can be got around we are in our late 60's and we managed. Watch out for the blue plaques on the historical buildings reading them is a real eye opener. Plenty of pubs to choose from but the Worlds End Pub has to be our favourite. The food there was very reasonably priced. Portion size is very generous and well presented and the staff are lovely nice place to take a break.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

thirsk is not the biggest of places but it was very nice, only thing is, if you need a taxi, regardless if their is racing on or not, you cannot get one, it seems that the odd individual people have one car and thats it, there's no taxi company as such and its pot luck if you manage to get one.Guest review byjanetUnited Kingdom - 10.0
