Absolutely love the decor and standard of furniture, fixtures and fitting of this beautifully refurbished Georgian house. Extremely well decorated and furnished, spacious, with a large bar area, large restaurant with linen tablecloths, and a separate dining area for four-legged friends. Good to know that pets are welcome and are catered for, but those without pets can dine in a separate area. Bedroom (No. 7) was beautifully furnished, spacious with very comfy super king size bed and lovely walk-in shower room with a hot powerful shower. We didn't dine in the restaurant in the evening but we both had a scrumptious breakfast in the morning. Most importantly, the staff were very friendly, efficient and attentive. Finally, the price for B&B for two was very reasonable. What's not to like ??? Highly recommended !!!

A very unique place to stay within easy access into Edinburgh with the tram. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the boat and the refurbishment. Nothing was any bother at all. The service from pre-check in to check out really was second to none. Rooms were comfortable and didn't have any TVs which was actually a refreshing change. Plenty of plug sockets near the bed. Also very nice to see some Scottish toiletries from Arran Aromatics. Breakfast was delicious (continental) and we used the lounge area in the evening to play Uno with a few refreshments.

FAQs about hotels in Scotland

A Rugged Jewel

With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!

The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.

The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.

The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.

As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

I recently stayed at the Wyndham Duchally Country Estate and had an incredible experience. From the moment I arrived, the friendly staff made me feel right at home. The accommodations were spacious, beautifully decorated, and offered stunning views of the Scottish countryside. The comfortable bed and serene atmosphere provided the perfect setting for a restful getaway. I especially enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and the on-site restaurant, which served delicious, locally-sourced dishes. The breakfast buffet had a great variety, ensuring a perfect start to each day. The estate's location is perfect for exploring the natural beauty of Scotland. The peaceful walking trails on the grounds and nearby outdoor activities like hiking and golfing made my stay even more enjoyable. Overall, Wyndham Duchally Country Estate exceeded my expectations. It's a fantastic destination for anyone seeking relaxation and adventure in a picturesque setting. I look forward to returning soon!

It is just amazing city. Very much like a from fairy-tale. We loved it (2 adults, 1 child 8 years). We were there at the festival-time mid to end July (not knowing about this event but it was an amazing surprise and we took advantage of it and visited lots of the events). Since it was also during Tattoo time, the city center has been very crowded, but was not a problem for us. Just expect prices for accommodation to be higher than usual. For us it was worth it. Super friendly people everywhere. Want to come back soon :-) We took the sightseeing bus at the first day - recommendable. And if you have children with you, go to the Camera Obscura, our son had sooo much fun.

Glasgow has a great music trandition and its very lively. But also extremely depressing and of course with a big addiction issue in its streets. It serves for a great start for trips to highlands. If you want to enjoy some parks or museums then visit in summer only. Absolute highlight the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Amazing and free!

Interesting tourist-oriented town with plenty to do in the vicinity especially if you like the outdoor life. A choice of restaurants including the Tavern where there’s good, no-nonsense traditional cooking such as mince and mash, and chicken breast stuffed with haggis served with mash and a warming whisky sauce. The trip up the mountain in the gondola just outside was also a highlight . The view was shrouded in low cloud at first but gradually cleared to reveal a fantastic panorama.

Oban is our place to catch a ferry to the islands and where we land on return. It is a busy town, the harbour and Dunollie being our chief interest the short time we are there, watching the ferries and other vessels sailing off or returning to harbour is always a pleasure. As such it always has an air of excitement about it, the anticipation of a ferry journey amongst and to beautiful islands. Therefore it is always a pleasure to be in Oban.

Aviemore has a great buzz about it – a proper gateway to the Cairngorms with a strong tourist vibe that makes it feel lively year-round. The high street is packed with outdoor shops, from big names like Ellis Brigham and Tiso to smaller independents, so whether you’re after hiking boots, ski gear or a new waterproof, you’re well catered for. There’s also a good mix of cafés, pubs and restaurants, which keeps the place welcoming after a day outdoors. It’s the kind of town where you instantly feel in “holiday mode,” with a steady flow of visitors giving it energy without losing its Highland charm.
