FAQs about hotels in Scotland
A Rugged Jewel
With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!
The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.
The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.
The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.
As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

- From US$490.77 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,997 reviewsI had the most splendid and unforgettable stay at The Marine in North Berwick, an experience that was elevated to sheer perfection by the exemplary team working there. Every member of staff demonstrated the utmost care and professionalism, from the attentive room attendant, whose meticulous efforts ensured comfort at every turn, to the exceptionally skilled masseuse, whose expertise was unparalleled. The hotel itself is a stunning sanctuary, and my time there was nothing short of enchanting. North Berwick’s charm only added to the magic, and I am already looking forward to returning to this beautiful haven.Guest review byViolette Marie JaneBelgium

Easy to walk around and good public transport system - bus and tram - to get to outlying areas. Fantastic range of shops from well known High Street chains to several Designer stores. Glasgow is a lovely university town with a world class museum - the Kelvingrove. Plenty of bars and restaurants and a lively night life seen. Not touristy like Edinburgh, but lived in and comfortable.Guest review byLeslieUnited States - 10.0
The night life was very lively.
The night life was very lively. However, that might have been due to the Loch Ness Marathon event on Sunday, with around 10,000 runners, and more friends, family and supporters in the town, including myself. All the pubs and restaurants were packed on Saturday night and the train leaving on Monday morning had standing room only. It was a lovely town, with the beautiful, wide, River Ness flowing through it. There seemed to be lots of space to move around and crossing the roads was easy during the day. There a number of lovely parks nearby, including the Torvean parkrun, which I tried out on Saturday.Guest review byMR C GUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Oban was great. My booking through Booking.com was terrible.
Oban was great. My booking through Booking.com was terrible. The hotel (Great Western Hotel) was a mess. Booked a third floor “Family Room” ($270), two beds. Upon arrival the elevator (lift) was not working nor had it been working for 8 days before our arrival. My partner uses a cane/walker. Had to walk up the first flight of stairs, even the front desk mentioned she could not walk the stairs as she was winded with the first flight. Offered a first floor room, one bed that was so small you could not get around. Offered a second room… a bit larger but still one bed the carpet had holes, mold in the walls, bathroom was dirty. We opted for a new property again booked through Booking.com. Booking.com offered us a 20pound voucher for our troubles. We have used Booking.com as our go to online booking site. We will no longer be using booking.com as they are willing to book you, but will not back up their booking. Booking.com through reviews (if they cared) would have noticed the negative comments being made. yet still was booking through the website. Even contacting Booking.com my calls were dropped or sent to a dead line.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 8.0

Cute little town for overnight or weekend. Lots of distilleries and breweries to check out. There are hiking trails or just walk up the hill to Moulin Hotel’s bar for a pint. Award winning Ian Burnett Chocolate shop is just a 20 minute drive away.Guest review byLawrence - 10.0

The fact that we stayed beside the grounds of the Battle of Bannockburn was fantastic, great history, unfortunately the visitor centre was closed during our stay. We were there for the history and were not disappointed, taking in the Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Battle of Bannockburn, The Kelpies, and the Falkirk Wheel. Having a rental vehicle with built in navigation was a bonus and made getting around so much easier than if doing so strictly by map.Guest review byrobertsonCanada - 10.0

A wonderful place—I come back every year!
A wonderful place—I come back every year! Paisley is well worth a visit, not only for its charm but also for the warmth and friendliness of the people. There are plenty of great spots to eat and drink; my personal favorites are Roasters Coffee Shop on High Street and the Wetherspoon’s pub conveniently located next to the train station. The town is also extremely well connected: just 10 minutes by train from Glasgow, home to Glasgow Airport, and a little over an hour by train to Edinburgh. Within Paisley itself, there are many attractions to enjoy, such as the historic Abbey and Coats Memorial, and soon the observatory and other sites will reopen to visitors. If you’re traveling to Glasgow, it’s definitely worth taking the time to stop by Paisley for a walk and to soak in its unique atmosphere.Guest review byMiguelSpain
