FAQs about hotels on Andros
A Perfect Combination of Culture and Fun
A favoured weekend destination, the island of Andros is only an hour and a half away from Athens. Named after Andros, a hero descending from the line of God Apollo, this beautiful island features traditional villages, golden beaches, high mountains, small rivers and green valleys.
Featuring great nautical tradition and home to famous Greek sailors, Andros is not similar with any other island in the Cyclades. This small paradise is a great cultural destination thanks to its many museums and their unique collections of paintings, sculptures and archaeological exhibits.
The lovely Chora is the capital of Andros and one of the most popular villages of the island. Wander around the narrow alleys, admire the Neoclassical and Venetian-style houses, and admire the beautiful stone bridge.
Rich in history, the island has several towers including the tower of Ayios Petros and Fryktoria. Built by Venetians, the Pano Kastro was the largest city in Andros during the Middle Ages.
Built over a gorgeous natural harbour, the resort of Batsi has a sandy beach, shallow waters and nice taverns serving local specialties. Booking.com has a great selection of hotels, apartments and guest houses in the magnificent Batsi.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 342 reviewsThe hotel's location is particularly good and close to the village center. There is free parking space opposite the hotel, and everything you need is available at the supermarket next door. Inside, the rooms are spotless and comfortable, and the one we stayed in (118) had a wonderful view. Although it is located on the street, there was no urban noise at night with the windows closed. Nice beds and comfortable pillows. The reception, pool bar, breakfast, and room cleaning staff were extremely polite and helpful in every way. Overall impression: excellent so far. Issues for consideration: 1) Small shower size, barely fits a normal-sized person, resulting in water dripping from the shower onto the floor with a real risk of someone slipping and hurting themselves. We had a similar issue. 2) For six days, breakfast was the same every day, with no variation or addition of local flavors, but it was complete and satisfying for all tastes. 3) The way the pool cleaning "manager" communicated and reminded us of the pool rules, and as I noticed, only to us, even though we reverently followed the rules, which are common in every similar space. Also, one morning, the same man, who claimed to be "in charge," addressed a man with whom he was transporting a refrigerator in a pickup truck, using loud and vulgar Greek slang, completely disregarding the presence of customers at the pool, including children who understand the Greek language.Guest review byNikolaosGreece
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 21 reviewsLovely, peaceful place, just outside of the hustle and bustle of Chora. Make sure you have a car. We had a family suite, which was spacious and exactly as pictured. We had a small balcony facing the pool and a private patio with a small garden. And of course a Greek vacation cat, which loved petting but would also be happy just lying in the corner. We saw lots of little lizards and even a small gecko one night. In the kitchen a small fridge with a small freezer space and a water kettle. Basic kitchen amenities and enough to get by. We had two drying racks on the patio. Shampoo and shower gel provided, as well as toothbrush. Beds a tad hard but ok. Cleaning comes by every day and is very thorough. Pool is great, good to cool down and the pool beds are out of this world. So comfortable. Breakfast was great, lot’s of variety and a nice view. Owners are very kind and welcoming. We felt at home at the property and very well cared for. Recommended for anyone, family or couple. We would absolutely return.Guest review byPaulinaNetherlands
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 525 reviewsWe had an amazing time at Mare Vista. We stayed for three weeks and it was absolutely perfect. The bedroom was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. The view from our balcony was breathtaking. There was plenty of water in the bathroom which might be rare on an island (last year we stayed in an other hotel and they would often run out of water). The room is cleaned and fresh towels are provided everyday. The location is great, right above Batsì, one of the main centers of the island. At breakfast there was a wide variety of choice and all food was delicious. All the staff was amazing. A special mention for Sophia who works at the reception. She’s a very kind and friendly woman whom now we can call a friend. She has a lovely dog, Leonidas, we would have taken him back home with us but he loves his mama too much and so does she 🤣 We’ll always cherish the wonderful moments we had at Mare Vista. To the city center it is only a short walk in a very nice area - the room was big for 2 adults plus 2 teenagers - the pool was very nice and well maintained, the kids ejoyed very much - the owner Dimitrios gave us all necesary information when we check in, what to visir and where to eat. - the island Andros is superb, very nice beaches, quiet, nice monasteries, 10 days on the islamd were not enoughGuest review byAlinaRomania
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 192 reviewsThis is probably one of the cleanest and well kept properties I've stayed at. The room was impeccably clean and it had a beautiful balcony. The beds were comfortable and linens and towels were great quality. The bathroom shower was large and had excellent hot water flow. The owner Nicholas was attentive and helped us to get a taxi ride to and from the port. He also had cars available at very good rates. We rented one for 2 days and it was excellent. I highly recommend.Guest review byLisaCanada

We lived near Batsi for 31 years.
We lived near Batsi for 31 years. It is a lovely little village with some very good tavernas and cafes, although there are now far too many cocktail bars. Andros island is lovely with excellent beaches and hiking trails but avoid August when the island almost sinks under the weight of thousands of visitors, mainly from Athens. Generally speaking, the island has managed to remain unspoilt by excessive tourism. The local people are very friendly and welcoming.Guest review byGrahamGreece - 10.0
Great hiking island!
Great hiking island! From Chora- Andros some fantastic hiking routes starts. The hiking routes are very well maintained. Baches are near by for swimming. Sunset and sundown are spectaluar. You will get superfit as there are stairs, stairs stairs in each town and also on some of the hiking pathsGuest review byPetraGermany - 6.0

We were there in May so not quite season. It’s very small but served as a good base to visit the island. Some good tavernas. Bit nothing else to do there. Not a beach nearby that is nice for swimming or tanning so would probably recommend Batsi over Gavrio.Guest review byChristineNamibia - 10.0

This is an ideal place if you don't like to be in the capital city with a lot of noise and traffic. You are far enough from the street and have your own peace and quiet, and at the same time you are very close to the city where there is entertainment and an active nightlife. Everything you need is in the area, restaurants, shops, beaches etcGuest review byMiroslav PetrovicSerbia - 10.0

This is an amazing natural beach, some parts are sandy and others with small white pebbles. Not a lot of people around on the time of my visit (June). The surrounding landscape is beautiful. There is a small tavern above the beach.Guest review byMichael PapaioannouGreece - 10.0

Ano Aprovato presents an optimal setting for hiking...
Ano Aprovato presents an optimal setting for hiking enthusiasts. Beginners can embark on a picturesque route stretching from the western region to the heart of Andros, connecting with the semi-mountainous village of Ano Aprovato. This path predominantly traces the historic trail traversing the western and southern slopes of Mount Petalo. It maintains a relatively level trajectory, offering captivating vistas spanning from the mountain's coastal edge to the island's interior. Spectacular panoramas unfold, encompassing views of the sea, the valley of Megalos Potamos River, and the coastal town of Chora with its twin bays. For more seasoned hikers seeking a challenge, there's a 10.9km point-to-point trail near Ano Aprovato. This route, deemed moderately demanding, typically requires around 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete. Ideal for both hiking and running, this trail promises solitude amidst nature's embrace, with encounters with fellow explorers being rare. Accessible year-round, it boasts timeless beauty, beckoning adventurers at any season.Guest review byDimitrisGreece - 10.0
Batsi is a lovely little town in Andros.
Batsi is a lovely little town in Andros. Beach was right across the road and one of our favorite places to have dinner was right downstairs called Mastello. There are 2 bakery shops and the bread smells amazing. There are lots of different restaurants, so you could try a different one every night. The Ktel bus service is pretty good and on time from Gavrio the port. You could visit Chora the capital of Andros, which is about 30mins by bus. It has lots of shops and tavern for coffee, pita yeeros and of course some greek ouzo with ice.Guest review byMariaAustralia - 4.0
Not a hospitable island!
Not a hospitable island! Third class and expensive facilities. Most of the locals are rude and it seems that they do not like visitors! If you want to visit Greece there are at least 100 beautiful islands and places to visit . This was the worst experience that I had in Greece and I feel ashamed that these guys claim to be Greeks Greeks are very friendly people ! Most of the islands even if they are small offer very good facilities! Do not waste your money and time in Andros . Concluding I would like to mention that I was very Impressed by the “Skalakia “ restaurant in chora! Excellent food and service. Mrs Maria was extremely friendly and professional. Make sure you reserve a table ahead of time.Guest review byHelenUnited States - 8.0

This destination is delightful, offering a wide array of culinary options. The local cheeses are exceptional, and you'll discover restaurants that cater to both casual diners and those seeking a more upscale experience. The ambiance is tranquil, making it an ideal retreat. Renting a car is advisable to fully explore the island’s beauty. While September may be slightly cooler, it also offers a more serene atmosphere.Guest review byMelissaIreland
