FAQs about hotels on Crete
Centuries of History, Days of Sunshine
The largest Greek island, mountainous Crete has stunning beaches, plenty of history and as much or little nightlife as you want. Party town Malia has many bars, clubs and restaurants on its Strip.
Along the coast is the capital Heraklion, a bustling city home to many Crete hotels on the beach, and a Venetian castle guarding its port. Its archaeological museum includes finds from the island’s Minoan era, while just inland are the Roman remains of Knossos.
Also boasting a Venetian castle is Rethymnon, a popular resort with a good number of Crete hotels with private pools on Booking.com. Loggerhead turtles nest in season on the sandy beaches here and at Chania, an important port with an attractive waterfront set against the backdrop of mountains.
On the other side of the island is Aghios Nikolaos, a small fishing town with a picturesque harbour. Just north is Elounda, a popular family resort, and offshore is Spinaloga island, inspiration behind the book ‘The Island’. Matala in the south has a bohemian vibe and intriguing cliff dwellings, while Paleokastro in the east borders Europe’s largest palm forest at Vai.
We could go on and on about magnificent Crete beaches, but whichever resort you choose, you can be almost guaranteed fantastic food and a good helping of sunshine.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,046 reviewsThis was by far the best hotel experience that I've ever had! Already at the welcoming they were so kind to us and gave us Prosecco. The staff was extremely helpful with carrying the luggage and providing us with information about the Restaurants/Shops around the Hotel. The beds were very comfortable and it was an elegant room. The beach bar, the pools, everything was amazing and also very clean. The absolute Highlight was the Restaurant staff. Me and my mom have several allergies and the staff went trough the whole buffet every morning and evening with us to make sure nothing is contaminated. They also cooked special gluten free delicious food for me. A big thank you to the Restaurant for being so kind and warm-hearted!!! I will never forget this vacation and would love to come back again!Guest review byLoriAustria

Had a CBD infused oil massage that was really nice. Recommendation: Eager to return, wholeheartedly recommended for unmatched hospitality.Guest review byRosabelleCanada

Nice place to visit, lots to see and do.
Nice place to visit, lots to see and do. Though I would not visit during peak periods. In regards to visiting shops, nearby beaches, touristic attractions etc., there is a large variety. Yet, I would recommend visiting villages around Chania as well. For shops and food, best to dwell towards what the locals normally visit, mostly in the west and south parts, away from the main "tourist hubs". Quality is significantly better and price lower.Guest review byAlexUnited Kingdom - 6.0
The town was buzzing and full of life.
The town was buzzing and full of life. Some excellent restaurants (peskesi a stand out) Beaches were stunning especially when blessed with perfect summer weather. BUT, the traffic is terrible, parking is difficult, road-rules are optional and the lane-ways are very narrow. Visiting Knossos is an absolute must.Guest review byGeorgeAustralia - 10.0
Amazing Resort and extensive facilities on site.
Amazing Resort and extensive facilities on site. Staff are amazing. Also one of the best mani/pedi I ever had at the salon. Resort is about 30 minutes from airport, and would say for a 5* Europe resort, this lives up to expectation, but don't compare to a 5* Caribbean or Mexico Resort, so bear that in mind. We stayed at the Ocean view room which had spectacular views. The Rocky beach was just fantastic with the lounges and beds, and considering how busy this resort is, never noticed it and never felt overcrowded, and you never had to reserve benches or lounges by the beach or pool, there was more than enough to go round and even more spare. A la Carte restaurants that were amazing and my favourites are Umi (Sushi), Azzuro (Italian), Thalassa for breakfast & lunch, Poseidon. A real let down of the restaurants was Nami, only delicious items were the Starters. Staff at this resort were fantastic overall, but special thanks to the following: Anastasi, Konstantina, Angelina, Ritsa and Lucas.Guest review byBandeleUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The city itself has everything you could ever need and more. prices are fair and its stunningly beautiful. An interesting town with a wide range of shops, restaurants, harbour, facilities and things to do. Unfortunately it is a victim of its own success, so gets fairly crowded at time and the traffic is busy and not helped by the narrow streets, challenging one way system and limited parking.Guest review byRobinUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Kissamos offered us a wonderful mix of relaxation and local charm. The nightlife was a pleasant surprise, with cozy bars and lively tavernas where we enjoyed delicious food and drinks. Evening walks through the town square and the nearby streets filled with local shops and traditional products were some of the highlights of our stay. It's a great place for couples looking for a laid-back yet authentic Cretan experience.Guest review byKonstantinosGreece - 8.0

Malia is a great base for exploring eastern Crete,as it is well served by public transport, car hire is easy and reasonable, but if you just want to eat, drink ,sunbathe and play in a pool,on a beach or in a club or bar it is great too.Guest review byrawdenUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Difficult to judge because we came early in the season when there was a cold wind blowing and not all the places were open. However, there didn't seem to be many places to eat [not a problem for us as there was one excellent place, though would be a problem peak season] . There were a number of apparently abandoned and ill-maintained buildings, which made the place appear less attractive.Guest review byAMELIAUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It was very pretty and friendly, not too busy although I imagine it would be earlier in season. We visited end Aug into Sept. Lots of choice of restaurants and bars. Can get the bus to surrounding towns and villages or boat trips round the coast. Close to the island of Spinalonga which is interesting to visit.Guest review byDianeUnited Kingdom
