From here, you can use a bus to reach Kiato, Corinth and Athens very cheaply. It is a beautiful town with nice monuments and ancient traditions. Pleasant city, active nightlife, many shops and excellent cuisine. From the Gulf of Patra you enter the Peloponnese. Olympia town is quite small but has some very nice tavernas, cafes and ice cream shops mostly under shady trees. The Main Street has a string of souvenir shops, some of which are quite stylish. It´s a beautiful city, at the Corintian Gulf.
It´s a beautiful city, at the Corintian Gulf. You are in the middle of the old town of Lepanto, with the wall all around and the castle at the top. The town is a tourist base. Not particularly interesting or pleasant. We only went for the railway trip, but unfortunately it was cancelled on the two days we were there, due to falling rocks on the line. This doesn't happen very often apparently...we were just unlucky. The stafff were excellent. They couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel was effectively in winter shutdown, so was not operating as a ‘luxury resort’. The hotel was next to a busy main road, in the industrial outskirts Agrinio. That said, it was pleasant and surprisingly quiet. We had the most wonderful stay in beautiful Paleros. Although on the mainland it had a real small island charm to it. The people are so friendly and the pace of life is very relaxed.
