Corfu is a naturally beautiful island. The scenery, beaches, hikes and local people are great. However, the number of tourists (including us) are a problem. Excess traffic (land and water), crowding and the resulting garbage would affect our ability to recommend a visit to others. There should be limitations placed on the number of visitors at any given time. Car and other vehicle rentals should be limited to locals. Visitors should take taxis or preferably buses only. Really gorgeous, quite substantial town with lots of very nice shops and restaurants. There is a beach just out of town which I didn’t visit so can’t comment on that. We went on the Odysseus boat trip which was excellent. This is a great place if you like boats. A hire car is needed if you want to get to the excellent beaches to the west and south. This is a small but attractive town which is easy to walk around - in the most part - though the steeper streets can be somewhat tiresome in hot weather. A great highlight is spotting turtles at the waterfront but it's generally enjoyable to wander around in town and uphill taking in the views and discovering monuments and buildings in the hills and on the coast. There are few museums or tourist attractions as such but the town is a great base for travelling around the island with a variety of bus routes. In terms of food, I enjoyed eating out at a couple of good places offering the usual grilled fare of souvlaki and gyros, though the overall choice of restaurants is perhaps a little limited, depending on tastes.Guest review byColin B AUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Kavos was great fun with lots of bars and a nice compact strip. Lots of excursion options (I recommend the day trip to Corfu old town) and a beach just next to the strip. Only thing that let it down was it was not very busy at all end of august so a lot of the bars were quite empty and prompted reps to almost harass you into the bars. Lots of great places to eat but absolutely ginormous portions which I found a bit overwhelming at times. If you like to be in the center of the action (restaurants, bars, night life), Tsilivi is a good spot. If you are searching for something more relaxed, i advise to search for other locations in the island. Well i had not been to Benitses for over 42 years ,and it was a bit of a shock ! The town looks run down and the beaches are not very good ,too much traffic drives by to get any peace on the beach . The roads are dangerous and busy ,lack of pavements .The old town is better with nice places to eat and drink ,night time is best The restaurant called the Olive was lovely ,the ambiance was relaxing and the food was delicious. There is a good bus service if you want to get about,you can buy bus tickets from some shops .it make it a lot easier.
