The focus was always on making sure their customers were well taken care of and enjoying themselves; they well and truly succeeded with this. Stayed in an absolutely stunning Suite with Sea View. Immaculately clean with an amazing housekeeping team servicing it daily, with the option to even have it cleaned twice daily if you so desire. One of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in and a luxurious bath and shower. All the amenities you’d expect and more left us wanting for nothing. A private beach just 30 seconds walk away made the experience for us where we spent the bulk of our time relaxing. Food and drink at the hotel was also very good. A well stocked bar and varied lunch and dinner menu were perfect for enjoying by the pool. The adjacent restaurant in the Hotel made a really enjoyable fine dining experience to mark a celebration. To top this all off, we were able to enjoy all of this at an extremely competitive price point for the service provided, and left feeling like we’d got tremendous value for our money and not having broken the bank. Our room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Staff was friendly and efficient and although it was very busy we felt well taken care of. The kids enjoyed the pirate ship with the slides and also the water park which had some nice slides especially the mushroom one which our kids did not stop taken. Breakfast was plenty of options with all you can think of. Lunch had a nice buffet around the pool and the dinner at the Greek restaurant was very tasty. The animation team did a fantastic job with activities throughout the day and at night there was some Greek group dancing and singing at the Amphitheatre which gave a really nice touch to our holiday. The food was good and had everything you needed. The beach was calm and had a great cool breeze. It' has some small rocks so take a sea shoe with you. After a few meters of rocks it's all sand.. but that was our favorite spot. The Beach bard had some drinks and it was chill. Flight from ATH (Aegean Air) very good. With luggage in-hand, we got in-line for a taxi to take us to lodging. Terrible experience. Must have been 35++ people in-line, A few taxis came initially. Wait was over 30 minutes. Standing in sun. It took a long time to get a taxi. Way to long. First impression of Kos, very poor. Then, our taxi driver could not find our lodging in the Kefalos area (think this was a rare event, as our lodging was NOT on the taxi drivers GPS display...???). Finally used Google Maps and that worked. Trip was off to poor start and never got better. Disappointed in Kos ground transportation. Have traveled a good number of the Greek Islands. Mastichari is lovely!
Mastichari is lovely! It is a chilled Greek village beside a beach with a small terminal for ferries to / from Kalymnos, and a bus stop that will get you to Kos town or the airport. There is a nice variety of tavernas for traditional Greek food, and a handful of bars. Prices in Mastichari are much cheaper than in Kos town! There are a selection of shops that sell a mixture of groceries, booze, and souvenirs. If you need a big supermarket, head up the hill out of the village and you will come to Constantinos, which has everything you need. There's also plenty of places to hire cars etc. The beach is right beside the village. It is very chilled. There are no noisy bars churning out loud music, or noisy motorised watersports. There are some sunbeds, but the beach is not dominated by them. Most of the holiday makers we saw were, like us, middle aged or older (this is not a criticism!). If you are younger and / or want a lively nightlife, this village may not be for you. Everything is fairly flat (unless you go up that big hill above the village), but you will need to tackle a step or two to get into shops and tavernas. It's a very small town, there isn't much to see or do.
It's a very small town, there isn't much to see or do. You can pretty much walk in two directions. But Tigaki is close, there's a bit more variety of restaurants and bars and cafes. The beach in Marmari is perfect though! And it's very safe and quiet. I would recommend renting a car anyway, because there's not much else to do and you will be more flexible that way. It was an amazing stay at Agios Fokas. The Hotel has great facilities and allocated in the nice quiet part of Agios Fokas, not far from thermal water. The atmosphere at the hotel was really nice. When we arrived at Villa Milan we were overwhelmed by the countryside location, the large pool and the sea views. It was so easy to relax there, but it was also in close proximity to the water park, beaches, shops and restaurants. We had a hired car and went out every day to explore the island, which is not large, so we covered a lot, and the roads are quiet. The villa had everything we needed and more; spacious rooms, tv, wifi, well equipped kitchen, bbq, air con, fans... and so on. As a family of 5, we really did have a fantastic week here, swimming in the pool and at beaches, the waterpark close by, exploring and of course eating lots of lovely local food. Loved walking around in the city center and having lunch here during the day, but we mostly had dinner along the beach. Lots of things to see, many boat trips (3 Island Trip with the Oddysey and Nisyros trip highly recommended). Beach: We loved going to Tarzan and using their sunbeds.
