We went to a few other beaches while in Poros, and GV had the clearest water by far. The staff were all top-notch and very kind. We had a room overlooking the sea. I would ask for a sea view room in the 3rd or 4th floor. We've visited several islands with our daughter, and this was our favorite hotel pool as well. Great size, same spectacular view of the sea, full service from bar and restaurant. Regarding the restaurant, we were very impressed with the quality of food and the prices. Both were better than many places in the center of town. You could easily stay at Golden View for your entire stay and be completely satisfied! Absolutely beautiful view of the city center. Very exquisite atmosphere given by the incredible large number of luxury yachts moored. Very busy and holiday air everywhere around. Beautiful and lively, lots of restaurants and gorgeous boats. We took the car so we could visit the island, well worth it. Monastery Beach was delightful until mid afternoon when it got crowded. We had choice to go to one of three closest islands near...
We had choice to go to one of three closest islands near Athens. Aegina is big and the closest to Athens so quite crowded on weekends where Athenians escape from the heat. Hydra is quite beautiful but a bit expensive, no sandy beaches near center and no transport on island except of horses and donkeys (it is charming, though, worth to visit for one day). So the last choice was Poros, with moderate prices, nice beaches, even free municipal bus, and 5 minutes boat ride to the mainland village of Galatas, which also has great restaurants to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine.Guest review byKA111ERGeorgia
