FAQs about hotels in Istria
Land of History, Sun and Wine
The land of stony beaches, sapphire seas and rocky mountains, Istria is the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea. It’s a popular tourist destination famous for its cuisine, weather and wine.
Istria has been a part of many powerful empires: the Byzantine, Roman, Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and more recently, Yugoslavian. Each of them has left an easily recognisable mark on the architecture, giving you an opportunity for a crash course in the region’s fascinating past just by travelling around.
The Brijuni Islands are a must-see for that reason. They were once President Tito’s private property with a large zoo, over 200 dinosaur footprints and a never-ending stream of international guests, including heads of state and Hollywood film stars.
Located near the Brijuni is the largest city of the Istria region, Pula, best-known for the beautiful Roman architecture and tranquil countryside surrounding it, as well as for its winemaking and fishing traditions.
Whether you’re visiting Pula or other towns like Pazin, Porec or Opatija, make sure to visit local restaurants and try Italian-influenced dishes with famous Istrian peppers, truffles and seafood. Finish your meal with grappa or a glass of sweet wine - the best comes from the Kalavojna region.
Istria is a diverse region and Booking.com offers equally diverse properties. From boutique hotels to comfortable apartments, you have a range of nearly 600 properties to choose from.

But after a complain to the reception the hotel manager (Tamara) called me for a meeting to find out what the problem was. She handled the issue very professionally and the rest of our time we had a very nice stay at the hotel. The hotel is located very good, close to the beach with walking distance to the down town. Staff are very nice. Specially the girls that are seating at the information desk (CG-girls). they are very helpful.Guest review byPharma TechnologyDenmark

You have everything you need in one place - eating place, entertainment, activities for kids, swimming place. Even though beach is public, it felt like only visitors of Glemping site were at the beach, which gave the feeling of more privacy. Personnel was helpful and provided all necessary information. We highly recommend with friends or families.Guest review byLauraLatvia

Very nice city, with wonderful old town and nice beaches.
Very nice city, with wonderful old town and nice beaches. The restaurants are good as well, and anybody can find something to pass the time. The nightlife is very active, there are many oppurtinites to have a party. Who is looking for a more quiet holiday, they should consider book their aparment away from the city center. The beaches are good but sometimes overcrowded. If you plan to visit other places in Istria, Porec is a good "home base". Everything is 50-70km away.Guest review byÁdámHungary - 10.0

The old town with its Venetian buildings is a delight to explore and watching sunset from the quayside is a popular event for visitors. There are lots of restaurants cafes and bars to choose from and quality dictates price: we found expensive fish restaurants with high end cuisine and also simple pizza placesGuest review byCarolUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The town of Umag has a charming coastal feel particularly at the historic centre. There are plenty of food options, lovely sunsets and a motorised 'train' to transport people from their resorts and hotels to the town for only 4€. Prices overall are very reasonable compared to other European destinations.Guest review byVincentUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Very busy town very clearly oriented to beach tourists, little to no historical or scenic attractions. Traffic is a nightmare in the mornings and evenings. A few traffic lights at pedestrian crossings would probably improve flow overall.Guest review byAlexanderSweden - 10.0

Atmospheric small town with harbour. Lots of super eating places. Old town on the hill full of cafes and easily accessed by charming road train. Miles of traffic free cycle and walking paths adjoining the sea to nearby resorts including FKK in Koversada. Excellent facilities for all family ages.Guest review byDenis no menaceUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Small, not so crowded village on the Istrian coast.
Small, not so crowded village on the Istrian coast. The beach stretches the whole length of the village. It's located close to Pula (10 mins by car ) and Rovinj ( 25 mins by car ), and has direct access to highway. The ships to Brioni national Park leave from Fazana so that is also a bonus. The location is great for anyone who wants to enjoy Istrian villages without to many people. In the evening, when all the tourists from National park leave, the village really becomes peaceful and tranquil. We've came 4 times till now. Hoping to come again soonGuest review byVukSerbia - 6.0

The Kamenjak park is fantastic and although in august it was really full of people, we could find a nice place where to swim without too many people. We went around with the bike and in general we could follow paths where car were not allowed, otherwise it was a bit annoying because there were a lot of cars. We ate at the Safari bar, it was full of people but they are very well organized and the food is good and reasonable priced. Probably, the best would be to go in June or September when there are less people. It would be nice if car were not allowed or at least if there was a maximum number allowed.Guest review byValentinaItaly
