I’ll admit I was skeptical about hotel dining at first, but this is no ordinary hotel restaurant. It's a proper, high-quality restaurant connected to the resort—and honestly, one of the best around. I highly recommend trying the octopus salad—it's a standout dish. What truly made this stay exceptional, though, was the staff. Their warmth, humor, and dedication elevated our entire experience. At reception, Biljana, Dusan, and Miki were incredible—always available, helpful, and full of that genuine Balkan hospitality that makes you feel like family. In the restaurant, Josip, David, and Strahinja not only provided fantastic service but also brightened our days with laughter, generous touches, and spot-on recommendations. Honestly, it’s the people here who will bring me back. The building is beautiful, the beach is world-class, the food is delicious—but it’s the staff that made it unforgettable. If I had to find one downside? The mosquitoes—but even they couldn’t dampen such an amazing experience. First trip to Croatia, and glad we chose Hvar Island. Stayed walking distance outside Stari Grad, picked location as quieter than Hvar town. In hind sight would stay first few days in Stari Grad and finish stay in Hvar town to be closer to port. Supetar was great for a relaxing coffee and ice cream by the harbour and has useful supermarkets for a self-catering holiday. Along the coast there are several small coves and pebbly beaches for swimming. Its beaches are fabulous, with crystal-clear waters and stunning landscapes, perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. Additionally, the island offers wonderful restaurants where you can taste local cuisine made with fresh and flavorful ingredients. We had the absolute pleasure of staying at an incredible villa a couple blocks from water and I can honestly say it was one of the most beautiful, quaint, and relaxing environments we've ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the peaceful surroundings and the charm of the location—it felt like a true escape from the everyday. A true hidden gem that I almost didn't want to write a review about so I can keep it to my self! Favorite pizza was at Hotel Lipa and our favorite meal was at Dvor. Personally, I love the island of Hvar and no stay in this place is long enough for me. Jelsa is a great resort that offers many great restaurants, authentic shops with local products, but especially a rich cultural program. The same applies to the neighboring village of Vrboska. It’s so pretty. A lovely change from crowded split. We have visited a few islands and this one is my favorite so far. Milna is pretty with everything you need within walking distance. Beautiful quiet and friendly location. Well worth the extra effort to travel a bit further. Very unspoilt with lots of passing yachts calling in for overnight stops or longer. About a dozen or so places to eat, very friendly people. Pint of lager 3.5 euros. A lovely glass of local white wine 4 euros. Four coffees about 10 euros.
