Plenty of separation from outdoor smoking areas. The pools were clean and a good temperature for outdoors. Free onsite parking. Breakfast had sufficient variety and plenty of it. The staff (two lovely young women seemed to be running the show) were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Every request was answered with a smile and "yes of course". Even made me a sandwich and coffee at 10.30pm. I had booked for two nights, Saturday and Sunday but mucked up the dates so they were expecting us on the Friday. We stopped here on our way back from Greece.
We stopped here on our way back from Greece. We were only in the center, which we were excited about! The central squares are connected. There is a beautiful Art Nouveau town hall, an Art Nouveau palace and several churches of different denominations. Directly off the M5 motorway towards Budapest. Has free parking and 24 hour services. Safe as it has CCTV. Excellent restaurant and bar. Rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. We had our dog with us and she was facilitated too We all slept well as the room was sound proofed.Definitely great value for money . This is a riverine resort based on the "waters" of the area.
This is a riverine resort based on the "waters" of the area. The "beach" along the river comes alive on weekends & evenings, when bars & cafés offer a variety of ambiences. Avoid major school holidays when families take over and it looks like a European version of Copacabana (with more fabric). One massive modern resort dominates the spa scene, and Germans & Austrians whose insurance pays for an annual "Kur" like to come where their Euro has more buying power. The resort offers what they call a "brunch" that is actually a lunch, with quality nearly matching the price. Plan on buying groceries in one of the larger cities nearby. A very pretty small town with interesting architecture. We were there because a relative was in the local (very good) hospital, but the stay was very pleasant, the people friendly and the food good and varied. We visited a couple of museums.
We visited a couple of museums. They were quite cheap but interesting. The first a folk museum had a fascinating collection of rocks and gemstones and information about the history of Hungary with traditional lace costumes and painted pottery. The paprika museum was interesting and had information in Hungarian,English and German ( and possibly French)on the types of pepper and how the crop is harvested and prepared to make different strengths of paprika. There was also information on local vineyards and types of wine. The town centre is being repaved at the moment but lots of interesting historical monuments and statues to see. If you want away from the mass tourism, small town, small problems, cheap local food, very nice local market. train is cheap but the service is not too good quality, old cars and no AC, delays.
