The castle is beautiful and well maintained. You are greeted with a smile and surrounded by friendly & courteous staff. Stroll around the wide garden and have a look at the animals in the back. The spa is intimate with a sauna, a steam bath and a relaxation room. There is also a room with ping pong, billiard and games if you feel like it. We booked half board and our tastebuds were bathing in awe. Think waiters with white gloves that serve you a delectable 3 course menu composition from the right side. Close to train, bus station and famous Podhajska spa. Local grocery shop close by as well. I enjoyed a glass of wine with book on terrace as the temperature during this winter was quite high. I hadn't so much time for sightsing but there is really nice castle in the center. Just few meters from the castle there is a restaurant. Small but looking good but without booking table no possible to eat there. We had some issue to find a restaurant in the evening. Lot of them are open till 16:00 however if someone wants to find a cafe/bar etc there will be no any issue with this. I enjoyed staying in Komarno, as it is generally a lovely town, with an excellent location, with nice history, very tasty food and excellent weather. People are friendly and helpful and there are various things to do including visiting various hot and cold mineral spring baths which are very healthy. Sturovo is directly across the Danube from touristy...
Sturovo is directly across the Danube from touristy Esztergom in Hungary and it is very plain in comparison. Being in Slovakia it is a cheaper place to stay or to shop. The centre of the town is very quiet in the evenings with just some dimly lit bars and few places serving food. This part of Slovakia is very run down with many buildings abandoned and in advanced decay. Nitra is a pleasant town, situated an hour bus ride away...
Nitra is a pleasant town, situated an hour bus ride away from the Slovak capital Bratislava. Nitra is important for Slovaks because of its history, Christian (sacral) architecture and of course, agricultural studies and trade fairs. I was surprised to also see a Synagogue, which is in a very good condition. It has a unique Moorish and Art Nouveau style. I recommend also a walk up the small hill to see the Calvary and enjoy the view at the whole Nitra. There is a lovely vegan and vegetarian place (open only 11.00-14.00) in the Nitra centre on the Farska street, I ate their main course as well as falafels, delicious!
