This place is great for a getaway, just what we needed for 3 days. It is north Bali and there is not much developed. There are not many restaurants around for example. Luckily the place has a great chef! Opened in Jan 2023 and owned by a French couple that ran a restaurant near Paris they did a great job building a beautiful small boutique place to get a rest, swim, get a great massage, and explore a beautiful waterfall close by (we went by scooter).

    Everything was beautiful, river, landscaping, great breakfast, the staff was amazing, patio added to the restaurant down by the river is beautiful. Pool is great never busy because it’s a small resort, beautiful space to meditate down by the river, paths to rooms all had lighting.Many activities offered. Owners on site are amazing friendly to chat with. Dinner at restaurant is amazing. Everything is a scooter ride away to visit, waterfalls, temples, market. Etc. we will definitely return for a second stay.

    It was my second time in 6 years and they didn't disappoint. Celebrated my 60th birthday with a group of friends. Had an amazing time. The staff is just super amazing at this beautiful place. Excellent breakfast every morning. They also arranged for snorkeling trips and massages, all really good and well priced. Will highly recommend.

    Really nice place, and the staff was really friendly and helpful. I was in the beachfront seaview room, and it was fantastic to sleep with the sound of the waves. When I booked, I was not sure about the room bc there were no pictures of the inside, but it was fantastic, it is similar to pictures of other rooms but bigger.

    Amed was lovely, found some great eating places that were really reasonable. Gusto, Galangal, Warranga Amed with live music and fabulous hosts, Sunset view restaurant )the lower key more traditional one) the other Sunset view was too upmarket and commercialised. We loved riding around on the scooters and felt it was quiet enough to feel safe. Really enjoyed getting up into the hills from there to see the rural lifestyles.

    I have been to Bali many times and tell people "it's not all traffic, crowds and beach clubs; you will find that Bali you want to find" For me, that is Sidemen, which feels like Ubud 50 years ago. So lush and beautiful. I did a silver jewellery workshop, and the rice terraces trek. I wanted to go white-water rafting, but I am over 64 years old and they had no insurance coverage for someone my age. On a previous visit, I combined a few days on Gilli Air with a few days in Sidemen as it is close to Padang Bai. It is a great location for exploring central and east coast Bali. Traffic is not too bad. The climate is a littler cooler than the coast which makes a nice respite.

    Contrary to some reviews of Padangbai being a dodgy back...

    Contrary to some reviews of Padangbai being a dodgy back water town, we found it to be a hidden gem. Lovely beaches and good places to swim and snorkel. Much smaller than I anticipated and far less humbug and mass tourism than other parts of Bali. Would definitely recommend staying here a couple of days, especially if catching an onward boat to other islands in Indonesia.

    I have been travelling around Bali for some time and I have come to a conclusion. Bali is about Earth Energy and there are 4 elements in which it excels. Central Bali, Ubud and heading North for Jungle Energy....intense and slightly chaotic. The Peninsula for expansive Ocean Energy, connecting you to something bigger, and Rock Energy...grounding, stabilising. Then you have Candidasa. Candidasa is the Energy of the Hills, the Green Healing Hills. Take your bike off the main road and you will be driving closer and closer to the foot, then keep driving, up and up, for absolutely breath taking views of dense greenery with traditional structures scattered in the distance. Breathtaking.

    A perfect place to dive and learn diving Tulamben is a peaceful little town and an amazing spot for both scuba diving and freediving. The water is calm, visibility is great, and marine life is rich, from colourful coral to bumphead parrotfish. The famous USAT Liberty wreck is a must-see, accessible right from shore. It’s also a great place to learn diving – many friendly, professional instructors and dive centres around. Whether you're a beginner or ean xperienced diver, you'll love it here. Highly recommended for ocean lovers!

    An off beat location, which is actually peaceful and great...

    An off beat location, which is actually peaceful and great for nature lovers, adventure seekers and history lovers. It is close to the mother temple of Bali (15 minutes), Blue lagoon diving and Snorkeling, p Pura Tirta and the most amazing rafting site. So a 3-night stay at this place is ideal to cover east Bali and then you can go to Ubud.

    It's a surfers paradise but not for us old couples. The place will be very nice if the owner take time to make it clean like clean sheets, new mattress with on bed bugs. The bathroom and toilets spruced up. Nothing much to see there except to surf and relax.

    We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven. I feel is enough to see the surroundings and have a feel of the place. We found the tickets a bit expensive. I mean is a nice place but not to pay 10$. You can see Tirtagangga in 20 minutes, depending on whether you are an instagramer and you take selfies in every corner, then you can stay there for over an hour, although is very difficult to take good selfies as there are people everywhere. Around the entrance, there are a few restaurants and shops. But please I would say to the owners or whoever takes care of this place, tell people not to feed the fish. They are huge! and it's because the shops nearby sell food so you can take a picture with the fish.

    Amed is one of my favourite places I have visited in Bali!

    Amed is one of my favourite places I have visited in Bali! I love that the reefs are right in front of the beach, you don’t need to take a boat or guide, just jump straight in to see so many fish and turtles! I went diving and I wish I stayed longer to explore more. The people are super kind and helpful. It is a little hard to get around though since there are no Grabs. If you can learn, it’s best to rent a bike. But other than that, take your time to explore Amed!
