The room was gorgeous. Fine linens adorned the bed, and charming sconces were on our walls, and the walls were covered in lovely wallpaper. It was a warm and inviting room with a window that had a sea view. We could not have asked for more. The restaurant/pub has a lovely live fire that was warm and glowing on a chilly day. Breakfast is served in a room that looks like a drawing room in an old manor home - exquisite in all details. Breakfast is huge with everything that you could ever wish to eat. The staff are cheerful and informative. There is a lovely glass room at the front of the hotel that overlooks the sea and just invites you to have a cup of tea there. We loved it and will definitely return!

This is an independent, locally owned property - it was a pleasure to stay here. The building was newly renovated and spotlessly clean. Staff were so very helpful and professional in their interactions. Besides the hotel, the building contains a lovely restaurant (fish and chips cooked to perfection) and a charming pub - Shannon Springs Hotel is a great place to recharge before or after a long flight in or out of Shannon Airport. There are bus stops immediately outside the building and you can be whisked there within minutes.

It is quaint without being twee - the coloured houses are iconic. We enjoyed seeing them in the real and they are so well kept. The shops sell local produce - Aran sweaters, wooden goods, art, honey etc which are well worth buying. We were there to do parkrun on Inis Meain so we spent a day there. Anyone who likes being in the wild would be in heaven. The views are amazing and the peacefulness is palpable. The pub serves hearty fare and well priced. The ferry trip was great fun but we were lucky with the weather. Eating in Doolin at night is a lively affair with trad music on in most pubs. I would love to have stayed longer.

Ennis is a really nice town to visit. There's a nice atmosphere to the place. Even though the whole of the centre was being dug up for improvements it was still really interesting to walk around. The bars were great. Good music and never closed if you were still drinking, it seemed.

A great little village with several places to eat and drink and the beautiful Bunratty castle and Folk park to visit. I highly recommend the Creamery and Durty Nelly's, I didn't eat anywhere else as we ran out of time. Bunratty is a great location to visit so many places. You can park and access it so easily off the N18 and be on your way. We went to the Cliffs of Moher and Lehinch and stayed a night in Limerick though if I did it again I would have stayed at The Courtyard B&B in Bunratty for the two nights, it was lovely.

Killaloe / Ballina is a beautiful twin town spanning the river Shannon. Great river walks, the old road bridge is now pedestrianised making it easy to go from the Ballina to the Killaloe side and vice versa. There's a variety of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs with indoor and outdoor areas. The Lakeside Hotel Killaloe (on the Ballina side) serves excellent food and drinks. Avoid the Bóruna Gastro Pub for now, it's dirty and the service is poor, could be great with it's rooftop bar but needs a refresh of the property and attitudes. Tuscany Bistro on the Ballina side serves excellent food in with great service Raw Interiors serves great food and coffee on the Killaloe side quirky building and great service
