Recently renovated and refurbished to an absolutely amazing standard. This place is awesome. Decor, facilities, food and especially the staff — all awesome. You won’t find better in the world’s best 5 or 7 star hotels. Special mention for Omar whom we met on arrival and again at breakfast. Only recently started his job this young man just has “it” …. An exceptionally personable and authentic individual without ever being intrusive. And the food - dinner and breakfast - stunningly delicious and beautifully presented without being fussy.

All round great hotel. Location is perfect for exploring the north coast of Ireland. Room was spacious and comfortable and pool was great too. We arrived late and the restaurant/bar staff kept the kitchen open later than normal to allow us to get bags to the room and then come down for some dinner. Booked for one night because it wasn’t available for a second night but when I asked about cancellations they got us in for the second night and even allowed us to stay in the same room. Very handy as we have two kids and had plenty of luggage!

Beautiful setting, each yurt has its own garden/outdoor area, amazing views and energy. Really good quality and comfortable bed, bedclothes and pillows. Little woodburning stove brings a cosy feel to the yurt, during the evening. Access to clean shower block and a well equipped kitchen with all utensils and seating area. Hosts are so welcoming and helpful, they also provide Free range eggs from their hens and Helen also designs and hand makes some beautiful sea glass jewellery from the local beach.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here, and the stay was great! The room was amazing, we enjoyed the spa, had a very tasty dinner with complimentary prosecco, biked around the lake and got a history tour of the castle! The staff were all great. Bundoran ,being a seaside and holiday destination thrives during the summer. You could meet anyone from anywhere here. But most importantly all are made to feel so welcome by the general community not just the hoteliers and gift shop owners. I accidentally left my rear passenger door actually open all night outside the Bank House and not a thing was touched!!! This coming from someone who has been a victim of a locked car theft in my own driveway in Loughlinstown Co Dublin….

We heard Ardara was a good base to travel around Donegal. Our first night we went to the local pub and ended up staying longer than planned. Live music and got chatting to some lovely local people. It’s a fairly small town. We self-catered so can’t comment on places to eat.

We might have done a better job at researching what boat or land tours would be available. We had hoped to take a boa trip under Slieve Liege cliffas and maybe a day tour to Gleneveagh National Park or Inishowen. There was a small tourist info building, but it did not open until Monday. The helpful man behind the counter seemed to indicate that once the last cruise ship visit of the season was gone, things quieted down quite a bit. It was rainy and windy most of the time. We did take a local link bus out to Glencolumbkill; weather was damp and windy, but we enjoyed the ride and had a nice lunch at a cafe, and got some business done at the post office. So the stay was a little disappointing, but, as I said, we might have done a little more research before we went. We did meet some great locals waiting for the bus, etc. and had some great chats. Our first 8 days in Ireland, travelling with family who could only stay 7 nights was a smashing success!! We have all visited Ireland several times, at least.

The spa was the best. Booking treatments before hand is needed but the facial was amazing as were the massages. The food was lovely in the hotel restaurant, we were not disappointed. When wanting to try something new we walked 5min to Nancys Barn for even more gorgeous food. Beach was in walking distance with a lovely view and nice walking path.
