We parked the car and left it for 3 nights and walked or used buses / trams. Driving is slow and like many cities confusing for visitors. Dublin is quite expensive (over 30 euros for 4 drinks in a pub, 8+euros for a pint of Guinness) and eating out can add up quickly. Buses and trams a couple of euros per adult ride. The city centre is mostly walkable and some streets are traffic free anyway. Guinness Storehouse is very popular (surprise!) so book online for a timed entry before you go as it makes it easier to enter. We enjoyed it, about 2 hours or so and the included drink doesn't have to be Guinness, but it tastes good there. Book of Kells / Trinity College Library has timed entry tickets also and is also a couple of hours if you read a lot of the museum and Library info stuff. And you can walk around the College grounds. National Museum of Ireland maybe not worth the effort unless its contents are your specialism.Guest review byStuartUnited Kingdom - 6.0

As a Londoner, Cork felt like a much larger version of Carnaby Street; vibrant and colourful with plenty of live street music. Public transport was pretty good and using the TFI Live App for getting around via bus was very easy to use. Lots of places to choose from to eat and drink and walking around (for me during the day) felt safe and relaxing. Driving is a bit of an experience; all the major surrounding roads and quite a few connecting ones had speed camera enforcement applied to them. As a first time visitor and tourist this was quite overwhelming as the Satnav was a sea of white and red lines. Speed, road and other safety signs needed a bit of familiarisation before hand; as they would for driving in any new city of the first time. Arrival for me was via Cork International Airport; shocking queues at the Avis/Budget Car Hire Desk owing, in part, to the Payless Car Hire staff not being around and visitors being directed to the Avis/Budget Desk. Inbound passengers subject to passport control which caused a bit of a delay. No obvious toilets between airside and passport control so bear that in mind if your travel needs require access to 'facilities' Not unusual I guess as compared other destinations and the timing with other inbound flights might have been unlucky on this occasion. Flew Air Lingus from Heathrow which was punctual and overall a low-stress experience. Can't really beat the National Flag Carriers when it comes to airlines! Enjoyed a short visit to Blarney Castle; opted not to join the long wait to see/kiss the Blarney Stone. In part due to having spent quite enough time hanging around to pick up the Hire-Car. Plenty to see elsewhere, the caves under the castle are fascinating and the grounds/gardens are beautiful. Well worth a visit.Guest review byJamesUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Wexford is a beautiful county with lots of indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy. Some lovely beaches and hidden private pockets, beautiful spot for forrest walks and a fair amount of horse riding facitlities. Lovely galleries and craft spots. Beautiful little fishing villages. Often find great live music and good food in the same facility. You should dig around and wander. It's one of those counties that will surprise you if you make an effort and do a little research. Hosts a lot of different fesitivals through the year including wirting, art, opera and strawberry festivals. Lovely people and one of the best areas in Ireland for decent weather.Guest review byHeahterMarinaIreland - 10.0

If you are looking for cutting-edge city life, this is not...
If you are looking for cutting-edge city life, this is not for you. Dundalk is a former railway town, largely built round the (now defunct) works for the GNRI and with much 19th century red-brick architecture. It has a busy high street with a lot of small shops, pubs and restaurants, none are grand, it reminds me of similar towns in the UK before planning blight took hold. A lot of effort seems to have gone into smartening the place up in recent years, which is nice. Would that other towns of its scale have survived so well it would be nothing exceptional, but as so few have, it has a real charm. As a base, it is well sited to explore the countryside around, which has a long and interesting history, with a lot of historic sites.Guest review byNicholasUnited Kingdom
