- From US$152.63 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 602 reviewsEVERYTHING! Perfect location for trips from Longford in any direction. Felt central for us. Lots of secure parking on-site. Great selection of shops for groceries and a fantastic Dunnes (IYKYK). The space is well laid out, pretty and functional. Even has a balcony! Kitchen has all mod cons including a washer-dryer all-in-one machine. There was coffee, tea, sugar and milk for 2 days - with a sweet treat. 🙏 Great bathroom with huge towels too. 💚 The owner welcomed us and responded immediately to a request for more toilet paper. But the coup de grace was completing a full load of laundry for us off site!! So grateful. 🙏 This property is perfect for a night or a week. It's very well managed and staff are extremely helpful. what a lovely spacious town full of all kinds of shops and businesses. lovely friendly people too. various streets to wander through and a magnificent Cathedral to visit. It had burned down some years ago and was totally rebuilt. Definitely worth a visit 77Guest review byAnonymousIreland - 8.0

If you are into boating yes it definitely is the place for you. The area is well kept and there seemed to be good facilities there, playgrounds, sports fields etc. Some nice local history and information signs placed around the town. The area might be nice for some cycling although not on the main roads I think.Guest review byTimothyIreland - 8.0

We were there to meet up with family so we didn't use many of the facilities that Longford has to offer. Limited range of good restaurants but lots of fast food places. Good central base to explore lots of Ireland.Guest review byMichelleUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Lanesborough is a boring town with few facilities and average pubs. There is now a decent coffee shop where the butchers was, but of course there is now no butchers. There is a mini supermarket which is OK but nothing special. The saving grace is that it is on one ‘corner’ of Lough Ree so has water frontage and nicest views, but they don’t make the most of it. The blot on the landscape is the disused power station that looms over the town, the sooner that is dismantled the better. Locals are pretty friendly and welcomingGuest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This is a part of the country which I wouldn’t think of exploring but I’m so glad I did. I was on my way to a wedding in Roscommon and we stayed in Longford which was within a half hour drive. It was lovely to be by the banks of the Shannon and I will certainly visit again. We ate in “The Purple Onion” and as we waited for our taxi to collect us the proprietor treated us to a nightcap on the house.Guest review byMaeveIreland - 8.0

Really lovely area along the Shannon where it opens into Lough Ree. Lovely coffee place called Lanesbrew. Lovely restaurant called the Wooden Spoon. Couple of pubs. Lovely walks along each side of the river and a forest walk. There is a Supervalu in town for shopping. No bank and needs pedestrian crossing Lovely lively marinas and a great boat trip with 'access for all' allowing those in wheelchairs have access to being on Lough Ree. Everyone friendly. Fairly central on Longford Roscommon border so great as a base to explore. Great spot and easy to get to. Everything in town within walking distance. Big downside is a huge power plant which is ugly but modern. You do stop noticing it but is not pretty.Guest review byMaryp49Ireland
