- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 396 reviewsHotel Ranga is truly a one-of-a-kind place. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed — the owner personally greeted guests, there were welcome drinks, handwritten greeting cards, and even a direct phone line in the room to listen to Icelandic poetry! The hotel’s cozy, characterful design is full of thoughtful details that create a warm and memorable atmosphere. The staff were exceptional — always polite, helpful, and attentive, including the housekeeping team. Our bed was incredibly comfortable, with a variety of pillow types to choose from, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade. Having a private entrance directly to the outside turned out to be a very practical feature during our stay. The location was exactly what we hoped for: remote, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful open landscapes — yet still well-placed for day trips, being about an hour from both Vík and iconic spots like Geysir, the volcanic crater, and one of Iceland’s major waterfalls. A quiet river runs near the property, and we often spotted swans drifting nearby — a lovely bonus. Breakfast deserves a special mention. The selection was impressive, but more importantly, every item was of excellent quality and clearly chosen with care. It’s rare to find a place where so much thought is put into every detail — from design to service to dining. We would absolutely return and can wholeheartedly recommend Ranga to anyone seeking a peaceful, atmospheric stay with outstanding service.Guest review byStanisławPoland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,278 reviewsRemotely located, the small cabins are really nice and the rooms very functional. it had been a miserable weather day all day so we were happy to arrive there and dry out. The room is great, bed very comfortable and we had our own bathroom. The breakfast was really good, and I regret we did not try out the restaurant because we had eaten a little earlier. The owner is also the owner of the farm on the opposite side of the road. Sheep all around.Guest review byNicolasSlovakia
- From US$223.74 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,028 reviewsDuring our trip to Iceland, this was our favourite accommodation. We only stayed one night but have numerous highlights. The receptionist was super friendly, the outdoor hot tub in the snow was a treat, the beer was reasonably priced, the room was warm, despite the freezing temperatures, the glass corridors were a treat to hope for Northern Lights (which did not materialise) and then breakfast the next morning was plentiful and delicious.Guest review byDublinaceIreland
- From US$439.95 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,010 reviewsBeautiful hotel in a picturesque setting with a view of the nearby glacier if the weather is clear. We loved the restaurant in the hotel and our service was excellent. This was the only Fosshotel our group stayed at while in Iceland as they were generally more pricey than our other accommodations, but we thought it was well worth it!Guest review byBryceCanada

The breakfast was in hotel Geysir and it was amazing with stunning view.Guest review byValeriiaUkraine

The waters and views of the glaciers viewed from a far are beautiful. Also some of the little food places reflect the cosiness of a working port. Quaint working port village. Worth a stop or basing yourself there to visit the surrounding geography.Guest review byBennettAustralia - 10.0

We did two day-trips in the full days we had staying here, one to the North and northwest, the other to the northeast. We also saw things on the way from the KEF Airport, and on our way to the next destination on the Ring Road.Guest review bymarybethUnited States - 4.0

Iceland is a very expensive place to travel and this guest house was average price for Iceland but the quality of the rooms were low average. Our room had such a bad slope on it we had to sleep at the other end of the bed with our heads above our feet. The bathroom had a toilet in the middle of the room, you had to walk around it to get to the shower and even though the room came with breakfast included it was very poor quality.Guest review byLinford - 10.0

A small and quiet town between the capitol of Iceland and some of the main tourist sites. Right on the way to Skógafoss and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, and Diamond Beach. There is a street food truck run by a nice man and woman. Definitely check it out!Guest review byAbdullahUnited States - 10.0

Great place in south of Iceland.
Great place in south of Iceland. The town of "flowers" is a good name for this place, as it is the warmest place in Iceland, where they grow flowers and enjoy life. It has the best swimming pool of the whole country, with an amazing "steam room" that is heated with steam straight from the vulcanic core of our planet.Guest review byJonastRussia - 8.0

Rooms are ok , with enough space, a small table and a chair, a small sink and a wardrobe. Toilets and showers are clean and practical and the kitchen is well equipped and big enough, there is also two more common areas, a room with some sofas and another one with tables for eating.Guest review byArdnas - 8.0

I am sure there will be more activity and beautiful place to see in a nice day or summer. We are luck to get good temp in our trip (most day above the freeze and one day reached about 10C). We are not luck since there is no sun in all the trip except when we fly back to US. The mountain and beach are great even with cloud and frog.Guest review byQiangUnited States
