Milan is a vibrant, clean, and safe city. It offers fascinating places to visit such as the Museum of Science and Art, magnificent churches like the Cathedral, world-class fashion stores including Gucci and Givenchy, and Michelin-tipe restaurants like Savini at the Duomo. Venice is magical. It is an architectural miracle. Every street and canal is a masterpiece. There is no place like it anywhere. It's expensive but worth it. It's a very safe place and every one there was wonderful. I recommend using water taxis to get around, for example, one can take a water taxi from the airport to your hotel! Moro cafe was nice. Favorite restaurant was al vecio Marangon. Veranda/bar on the canal at the Gritti Palace is very nice. Stayed at The Gritti Palace and Sina Centurion Palace and both were 5-star and exceptional. Pleasant city to walk around. Elegant architecture and good shops if you like that; Egyptian Museum certainly large scale; Lingotto district (old Fiat factory) interesting and quieter. It's a great location if you have a car.

The Citta Alta is lovely and there are many things to see both there and in the Citta Bassa. The Cathedral, Art Museum and the Piazza Vecchia. We ate at La Ripa - excellent food and service. Went on the tourist tram up to Via Stradicana / Napoleonica.
Went on the tourist tram up to Via Stradicana / Napoleonica. Get off at Obelisk stop not end at Opicina. Tram is a little hairy especially just after the start when they add a second engine; also crowded. There is also the 64 bus right nearby if you think might be queasy. Central Trieste has been thoroughly refurbished during Covid and looks like a set from Studio Ghibli. The old town is buzzing with bars and restaurants. Sirmione was a real find for Lake Garda. It has the amazing old town with its cobbled streets and history, but also has the newer town which has loads of restaurants and shops, as well as the marina. It is really easy to get to other parts of the lake from Sirmione, either by car or by boat, so it was a great base.
