Milan is a vibrant, clean, and safe city. It offers fascinating places to visit such as the Museum of Science and Art, magnificent churches like the Cathedral, world-class fashion stores including Gucci and Givenchy, and Michelin-tipe restaurants like Savini at the Duomo. I have been to Venice 3 times and my wife and family still want to go back Pace of life there is lovely, interesting to see how the city works with boats moving bedding and supplies in the early morning around the city. So many nice places to eat, too many to mention. Very easy and quick to walk around. Well worth the cost of going up the Camponile tower to get overhead view of the whole city, Grand Canal is fab, Rialto bridge is a lovely place to eat and watch the world go by. Doge's palace, St Peter's Basilica also good. 2 x classical concerts in Chiesa di San Vidal listening to Vivaldi were stand outs over a couple of trips. Booked through Clasictic.com. Nice compact city you can get around most sites in about 30 minutes walking from side to side. Bus tour was good, we used it to get to our property as well to drop off luggage. Could easily spend a few days to maximise the city, we only had a day because we were flying back to UK the following day. Airport very good, like a small provincial airport of the past in the UK. Will definitely visit Verona again. Arena great, Romeo and Juliet balcony. Nice market on the Saturday. We ate at Trattoria la Pigna (booked last minute through TheFork having found on Google) which was fantastic food and lovely helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Torino is a great city for everything - sightseeing, food, cultural experiences, etc. As I have already submitted a review of Torino, in order not to repeat the same things, I will write about our visits to Genova and Novara. Genova is situated to the south of Torino - two hours by train. We went there to visit the Aquarium, and we weren't disappointed. However, apart from that, I wouldn't recommend it as it reminds me of Napoli - polluted, dirty, too many immigrants, not much to see. If I have to give it a rating 10/10 for Torino and 7/10 for Genova. I could add one mark for the famous Pesto Genovese, which you can purchase anywhere in the world. For a much better experience, I would recommend visiting Novara. Situated to the east of Torino - one hour by train (in the direction of Milano), you will find there the famous Basilica di San Gaudenzio, and more precisely, the Cupola (the dome). At 121 metres tall, it is one of the tallest domes in the world. More importantly, tourists can book a climb of the cupola (up to 100 metres), which is a once in a lifetime experience. Went on the tourist tram up to Via Stradicana / Napoleonica. Get off at Obelisk stop not end at Opicina. Tram is a little hairy especially just after the start when they add a second engine; also crowded. There is also the 64 bus right nearby if you think might be queasy. Central Trieste has been thoroughly refurbished during Covid and looks like a set from Studio Ghibli. The old town is buzzing with bars and restaurants. Sirmione was a real find for Lake Garda. It has the amazing old town with its cobbled streets and history, but also has the newer town which has loads of restaurants and shops, as well as the marina. It is really easy to get to other parts of the lake from Sirmione, either by car or by boat, so it was a great base.
