FAQs about hotels in Campania
Stunning Scenery and Remarkable Ruins
Wonderful beach resorts, a wealth of history and winding, cliff-hugging roads – these are just a few reasons why Campania is so admired.
Spreading around a bay, the capital Naples is a mix of monumental architecture and narrow streets. Known for pizza and pulsating life night and day, it extends along the coast towards Pozzuoli, site of a Roman amphitheatre and the Phlegrean Fields volcanic area.
The most notorious volcano is of course Vesuvius, whose eruption in 79AD destroyed Pompei and Herculaneum. The ruins of both are an amazing insight into the sophistication of the Romans. Even older are the well-preserved Greek temples at Paestum.
Agropoli sits on a rocky promontory overlooking a beach and harbour, and beautiful Palinuro is at the tip of the Cilento National Park. Other fantastic Campania resorts are on the amazing Amalfi Coast. Ravello, high on a hill, offers stunning coastal views, while Amalfi and Positano cascade down to the sea. Around the peninsula is Sorrento, home to several 5-star Campania hotels, while offshore are the fabulous islands of Capri and Ischia.
Inland Caserta has an impressive Royal Palace with huge gardens, and Avellino nestles in a valley between the port of Salerno and Benevento, site of yet more Roman remains. See Booking.com for an excellent range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Campania.

- From US$184.81 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 1,279 reviewsEverything was above our expectations. We were quite reserved to book the hotel since it was rated 7.7, yet we still booked it since it was October and options limited. Yet, it deserves a perfect 10. The hotel, the view, the breakfast, the restaurant were exceptional. Absolutely exceptional. They had free parking in an area that is complicated to find parking places. The view from the our hotel room was stunning (we had a room with a view both to the sea, and to the city of Salerno, as well as to the port). The private beach was very clean. The breakfast was diverse and had mindblowing desserts. All the dishes we had at the restaurant were stellar (2 consecutive dinners). We tried, twice as well, the Michelin restaurant - Re Mauri - and we had the best food in a long while.Guest review byXENIARomania
- From US$456.47 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 133 reviewsI absolutely loved this hotel the scenery from the balcony was so unbelievable. It was a short walk from the beach that wasn’t too crowded as compared to Positano. The staff were so nice and helpful always communicated effectively over WhatsApp anytime I needed anything. Even when arriving at meta station there was no Ubers and they sent for a driver immediately. The room and bed was outrageously comfortable and clean I think I can live there forever. The view is literally a billion dollar view.Guest review byVickiCanada

But the hotel was really lovely.Guest review byAntonyNew Zealand

Do your homework before visiting!
Do your homework before visiting! Some areas are just large touristy places because of all the cruise ships and tour buses. There are so many other nice places to visit once you get out of that zone. Be sure to confirm with taxi driver your rate BEFORE you leave, and WHEN YOU ARRIVE! We had overpaid at airport when arriving for taxi to our residence. Upon leaving, we decided to use a Lyft App "FREE NOW" to avoid that. Unfortunately, even though the App listed the expected rate, and the meter in the car reflected a lower rate, we were charged approximately 12 Euro more to the credit card! Highly recommend San Severo Chapel/Museum for some unique experience. Use the audio guide! (You must reserve your ticket early, so plan ahead)! Local shops are friendly and helpful. Eat pizza!Guest review byDeborahUnited States - 10.0
Sorrento is a great town.
Sorrento is a great town. Lots of shops, very good restaurants and pretty easy to get around. It's a great launching off area to explore other towns along the coast. Easy to book excursions, and if you're brave, rent a scooter and enjoy the town (I did!). Restaurants along the marina are good. The SkyLine bar in Marina Piccola was great. The cafe Le Sirene was terrific. A highly recommended trattoria is La Cantinaccia del Popolo, but it does not take reservations and a line forms just before opening at 6pm. Get there early!!Guest review byMonicaUnited States - 10.0
Ischia is a lovely island.
Ischia is a lovely island. We were only there for 2 nights and 3 days so didn't get the chance to explore it as much as we wanted, but we loved what we saw and would love to return. There were many places to eat in the town of Ischia, and we also explored the San'tangelo area. One of our favourite meals was at a simple family run restaurant called Porta di Agartha, which is part way up Mount Epomeo. The food is lovely and the people were so welcoming. It is a nice alternative to the seaside locations available on the island.Guest review byCaterinaAustralia - 10.0

Salerno is a great place to stay if you are visiting the Amalfi coast. Salerno is central for trains, buses and ferries. We rented a private boat for a day cruise along the Amalfi coast. Absolutely amazing. We rented the boat from Blue Dream Rental Boats.Guest review byMichaelUnited States - 8.0

Capri is great to explore via taxi, get up early and head up to Ana Capri, less traffic more intimate area. The chair lift is a must to the top of the mountain, and lunch up top of the mountain is amazing. Capri is nice in the evenings to walk around and shop with plenty of places to get cocktails, and explore.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Beautiful place.
Beautiful place. Goes without saying it's a lot of stair climbing. Consider this if you have any mobility issues. Very touristy and busy the end of September when we met. At times it was hard to navigate the sidewalks and pathways.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 10.0

Lovely town with great resturants and the Archaeological site of Pompeii , plus 3 train stations which allowed travel to Herculaneum, Sorrento, Naples and Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. A great central location. We used the beaches at Vico Esquerence as they were a lot cleaner that those at Castlemmare Di Stabi, but we did food shopping at Lidl there and the shopping Center in Pompeii was a treat.Guest review bySarah Blewer-BurmanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Caserta is a very underrated place to visit, but it must be seen on your travels. The palace is an unbelievable place. Check out the gardens, it is close to Napoli, Sorrento, and Capri, and an ideal location to base your Holiday. It has everything you need: Road Network, trains, and busesGuest review byIannarelliUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Maiori is an interesting town on the Amalfi Coast.
Maiori is an interesting town on the Amalfi Coast. The beach is big and much more accessible that other towns. The local bus service (Sita) is good except that the buses fill up and you can be left waiting for the next one and hopefully get on it. The Amalfi Coast road is amazing, winding, narrow and so busy with traffic nonstop passing with inches to spare - sometimes buses and cars have to back up to pass on some parts. The Italian bus drivers are extremely skilled - some are nice, but some are extremely mean (and I think hate Tourists)Guest review byMiddletonAustralia
