FAQs about hotels in Campania
Stunning Scenery and Remarkable Ruins
Wonderful beach resorts, a wealth of history and winding, cliff-hugging roads – these are just a few reasons why Campania is so admired.
Spreading around a bay, the capital Naples is a mix of monumental architecture and narrow streets. Known for pizza and pulsating life night and day, it extends along the coast towards Pozzuoli, site of a Roman amphitheatre and the Phlegrean Fields volcanic area.
The most notorious volcano is of course Vesuvius, whose eruption in 79AD destroyed Pompei and Herculaneum. The ruins of both are an amazing insight into the sophistication of the Romans. Even older are the well-preserved Greek temples at Paestum.
Agropoli sits on a rocky promontory overlooking a beach and harbour, and beautiful Palinuro is at the tip of the Cilento National Park. Other fantastic Campania resorts are on the amazing Amalfi Coast. Ravello, high on a hill, offers stunning coastal views, while Amalfi and Positano cascade down to the sea. Around the peninsula is Sorrento, home to several 5-star Campania hotels, while offshore are the fabulous islands of Capri and Ischia.
Inland Caserta has an impressive Royal Palace with huge gardens, and Avellino nestles in a valley between the port of Salerno and Benevento, site of yet more Roman remains. See Booking.com for an excellent range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Campania.

After doing some research we chose Salerno as a base to explore Amalfi coast. It is much more affordable than Positano and Amalfi town for accommodation and dining. Both of those destinations are an easy and enjoyable ferry ride away. If you are short on time you could do both in one day, we did them on separate days so as to have time for beach, picnic, and exploring in each place. There are some good restaurants and nice shopping in Salerno itself also the old part of town is worth exploring with narrow laneways and character buildings, plus the Cathedral.Guest review byNicolaNew Zealand - 10.0
Positone Spa a great day.
Positone Spa a great day. St Angelo town quaint and beautiful. Garden Mortella stunning on a sunny day. Castle in Ischua Porte good. Bus transportation excellent, buses every 10 minutes, you can pay onboard. Use app Rio to Rome, excellent for travel information all around the world. Tip for travelling alone, lunch instead of dinner. Eat outside instead of dinning inside, bring a book with you. Once you begin travelling alone, the world is your oyster!!!Guest review byJackieIreland - 10.0

This was a bucket list place gor me. Wish I could have stayed there for weeks. So much to see and so easy to do day trips to othere places. Highly recommend. There is a little café in front of the ferry port fantastic breakfast.Guest review byBookminxUnited States - 8.0
Capri can be crowded even late in the season.
Capri can be crowded even late in the season. The marina can become overcrowded and navigating from the ferry to your apartment can be a challenge. Skip the Funicular if the lines are long and especially if you have baggage. The porters do a great job, but the cost can add up if you have several pieces of luggage. Take a taxi to your hotel/apartment upon arrival to save yourself a lot of trouble.Guest review byBart - 10.0

Been on my bucket list since studying Classical Studies at school. It did not disappoint. Steeped in history and you get a real feel for the terror those people experienced when Vesuvius erupted. I climbed to the crater so peaceful now hard to believe it caused such destruction. Seeing the House of the Faun made my day at Pompeii. Herculaneum was as impressive but smaller and easy to navigate. Pompeii is huge and it was hot with no shade this makes getting around in the crowds a little more challenging.Guest review byLizAustralia - 8.0
Town is most beautiful seen from the sea or a high terrace.
Town is most beautiful seen from the sea or a high terrace. Friendly people. Gets overrun by tourists, even October. Lots of hills and steps, and taxi’s are a flat rate of 35 euros, adds up fast. Better to walk and avoid traffic jams. La Pergola on the beach for pizza, also for spaghetti and clams. Ohima for great vibes and good food. Il Pallazo for special evening. Ferries to visit Amalfi and Ravello. See Capri and ride the chairlift. Relax and have fun.Guest review byAndreaUnited States - 10.0

Caserta is a very underrated place to visit, but it must be seen on your travels. The palace is an unbelievable place. Check out the gardens, it is close to Napoli, Sorrento, and Capri, and an ideal location to base your Holiday. It has everything you need: Road Network, trains, and busesGuest review byIannarelliUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Maiori is lovely, spread out and calm. There are plenty of shops to poke about in and even more restaurants and gelato places to sample. We loved the cleanliness and safety of the sidewalks. It felt spacious.Guest review bySandraCanada
