What a gem of a find. Do not let the two stars deter you. There is no way this hotel is only 2 stars. It is 4 stars!! Rooms are huge, we had the junior suite due to free upgrade offered through booking.com. Huge spa in our room, stunning bathroom, balcony, room service, fantastic fresh breakfast. Beautiful, helpful hosts. You must stay here. Little bit of a walk to restaurants. Parking included and very safe behind a boom gate.

Surprisingly, received a warm welcome (and farewell) from the owner, Signore Gaetano who gave a tour of the reception and breakfast area with beautiful family paintings (like an art gallery). Efficient and helpful staff at the reception (Fabio, Andrea and Ylenia; did not meet the night staff but he should also be very good) and the breakfast staff who were also helpful and provided good service. Excellent location in the center close to the main plaza, train and ferry station and pedestrian street, while rooms are surprisingly quiet. Good breakfast with a variety of bread, fruits, pastries, cold cuts, eggs and cheese and freshly prepared coffee. Rooms are spacious with high ceilings, clean, while beds are firm and pillows comfortable. Bathrooms are clean with enough space for cosmetics and with large bath towel and hair dryer. I will strongly recommend this hotel.

I chose this hotel while on vacation in Italy. Because I don't like Naples. His location is only 10 minutes walk from the train station. All shops and supermarkets on the doorstep. No matter where you go, it is very convenient to get around. There are boats and buses. Waiters cleaned every day. The room was also prepared with coffee and water. I like it very much. I recommend everyone to come here. You will be satisfied

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Diana. The room was spotless and the selection of food for breakfast was top notch. FAQs about hotels in Campania

Stunning Scenery and Remarkable Ruins

Wonderful beach resorts, a wealth of history and winding, cliff-hugging roads – these are just a few reasons why Campania is so admired.

Spreading around a bay, the capital Naples is a mix of monumental architecture and narrow streets. Known for pizza and pulsating life night and day, it extends along the coast towards Pozzuoli, site of a Roman amphitheatre and the Phlegrean Fields volcanic area.

The most notorious volcano is of course Vesuvius, whose eruption in 79AD destroyed Pompei and Herculaneum. The ruins of both are an amazing insight into the sophistication of the Romans. Even older are the well-preserved Greek temples at Paestum.

Agropoli sits on a rocky promontory overlooking a beach and harbour, and beautiful Palinuro is at the tip of the Cilento National Park. Other fantastic Campania resorts are on the amazing Amalfi Coast. Ravello, high on a hill, offers stunning coastal views, while Amalfi and Positano cascade down to the sea. Around the peninsula is Sorrento, home to several 5-star Campania hotels, while offshore are the fabulous islands of Capri and Ischia.

Inland Caserta has an impressive Royal Palace with huge gardens, and Avellino nestles in a valley between the port of Salerno and Benevento, site of yet more Roman remains. See Booking.com for an excellent range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Campania.

After doing some research we chose Salerno as a base to explore Amalfi coast. It is much more affordable than Positano and Amalfi town for accommodation and dining. Both of those destinations are an easy and enjoyable ferry ride away. If you are short on time you could do both in one day, we did them on separate days so as to have time for beach, picnic, and exploring in each place. There are some good restaurants and nice shopping in Salerno itself also the old part of town is worth exploring with narrow laneways and character buildings, plus the Cathedral.

Positone Spa a great day. St Angelo town quaint and beautiful. Garden Mortella stunning on a sunny day. Castle in Ischua Porte good. Bus transportation excellent, buses every 10 minutes, you can pay onboard. Use app Rio to Rome, excellent for travel information all around the world. Tip for travelling alone, lunch instead of dinner. Eat outside instead of dinning inside, bring a book with you. Once you begin travelling alone, the world is your oyster!!!

Been on my bucket list since studying Classical Studies at school. It did not disappoint. Steeped in history and you get a real feel for the terror those people experienced when Vesuvius erupted. I climbed to the crater so peaceful now hard to believe it caused such destruction. Seeing the House of the Faun made my day at Pompeii. Herculaneum was as impressive but smaller and easy to navigate. Pompeii is huge and it was hot with no shade this makes getting around in the crowds a little more challenging.

Capri can be crowded even late in the season.

Capri can be crowded even late in the season. The marina can become overcrowded and navigating from the ferry to your apartment can be a challenge. Skip the Funicular if the lines are long and especially if you have baggage. The porters do a great job, but the cost can add up if you have several pieces of luggage. Take a taxi to your hotel/apartment upon arrival to save yourself a lot of trouble.

    The area is lovely.

The area is lovely. But way too may stairs to climb with luggage. Google was the worst so we doubled the stairs. The beaches are rocky. Streets are cobble. It’s a terror on the feet. I feel like the travel writers way over rated these areas on Amalfi coast. Way a lot of tourist in late Oct. Basically all the shops carry the same stuff. Go to one and you’re done. Yes I’m glad I came and it was short but a boat ride to visit them all in a day or 2 would be enough!! The best place I ate was I stopped in a deli. The food was great! Bad thing is there is no place to sit. It’s stand and eat. But the owners were very accommodating! Not at all very gluten free, dairy free of night shade free. But u can get by. The fruits meats, eggs and dark chocolate we all excellent fresh and more flavorful then USA and the lemons…😘.Do not try to drive was the best tip!!
