FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre
Cliff-Hugging Beauty
One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.
Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.
The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.
Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.
The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

- From US$170.70 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 93 reviewsExcellent property, very close to the beach as well as the Monterosso train station. Checking-in was a breeze as the keys were ready for us before we arrived. We were also able to get an early check-in by about an hour. Monterosso is also fairly flat meaning it was an easy walk to the property even with luggage. The room is beautiful and cute with a small garden attached. We had our own entryway so it had good privacy. The room is slightly bigger than a queen bed, fits a queen bed nicely and has a table and chairs set. Very well appointed room. The garden also had an outdoor seating area, and we had our breakfast there (our own food). Highly recommend this property as it's good and at a good location.Guest review bycest_la_vieUnited States

Just moments walk from the train station and directly facing the beach. We had a water view with a little balcony with a table and chairs that we enjoyed in the morning and evening. The staff was helpful and friendly and offered tips and ideas for what to do in the area. The included buffet breakfast offered a surprising variety of dishes along with a cappuccino machine and juicer.Guest review byBonnieCanada

We used La Spezia as a place to visit Cinque Terre region.
We used La Spezia as a place to visit Cinque Terre region. We were somewhat disappointed in Cinque Terre. It is overcrowded and somewhat dilapidated. The buildings could be refreshed with a coat of paint. The best way to see the region is to take the train to Vernazza, then take a 2-hour boat trip to view the five villages. You need to be lucky with the weather. The ferry boat gets cancelled when the seas are high.Guest review byRonald - 8.0

Secluded private garden location just minutes from the beach and the Gigante statue in the new town, nestled under old growth trees in a light filled greenhouse glass addition to an historical building. Sun Light yet private. Equipped with dishwasher and washer/dryer(a bonus for travelers) and the lack of towels. Bring extra charging stations. Outlets are sparing in each room. Non the less, this one is a find. I'd return.Guest review byamandaUnited States - 10.0
Levanto is the next town north of Cinque Terre.
Levanto is the next town north of Cinque Terre. The train that runs between the five towns, actually starts in Levanto so you can easily visit all the towns, and the trains also run to La Spezia where you can connect to many other parts of Italy. There are many restaurants, a fairly large beach, and you have many choices for hikes, walks, or rent a bike and ride through the tunnels. We were very glad we choose Levanto as the Cinque Terre towns were fairly crowded.Guest review byLesli BowersCanada - 10.0
Riomaggiore is a vibrant town.
Riomaggiore is a vibrant town. Loved being outside at night with the restaurant sounds and bars playing music. It felt safe to walk around on my own. Enjoyed the harbor view and proximity to boat rental and tours. Beach was nice and small and not too crowded. Ferry is right there, too. Highly recommend staying in Riomaggiore.Guest review bySusan CleereUnited States - 10.0

All of the restaurants were absolutely OUTSTANDING! The very freshest seafood. And all of the homemade pasta was so very delicious. Leisurely pace. However, it was very crowded the 3 nights we were there. But being such a beautiful place I can certainly understand why !!Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Great village to be based if you want to explore Cinque Terre. The train station is only a short walk from everywhere and there are various food options for breakfasts and dinners. The village itself is very cute and we could see everything in half a day.Guest review byElinaMicUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Picturesque, relatively small and quiet compared to the other cinque Terre towns. Centrally located so I could begin day walks in both directions. Best not to carry heavy luggage up the hill from the train station (around 380 steps) - use the bus… only 1,50 Euros but expect to wait 15-30 mins at peak time. The walks to Vernazza and on to Monterosso, and also the walk to Manarola are magnificent, just be prepared for lots of steps.Guest review byJohnAustralia - 10.0
