Beautifully decorated throughout! A quiet stay in the heart of Sulmona. With comfort and luxury at every turn! The host/chef Mariela was so kind, I felt an instant connection with her and she made fabulous breakfasts. The owner Stefania was also very welcoming, thank you! Hope to see you again next time!

La Bianca Dimora was a brand new building just outside the Centro Storico of Sulmona which is a magical town with majestic views, history and great food! A clean organized apartment with a small private outdoor courtyard and plenty of free parking across the street or on nearby side streets. I highly recommend this airbnb for those who want to spend quality time exploring Sulmona or nearby towns in the Valle Peligna like Raiano, Pratola Peligna, Pacentro, Introdaqua and more.

Sulmona ws a really nice, off the beaten path town to visit...

Sulmona ws a really nice, off the beaten path town to visit in Italy. It is the "home" of confetti, candied covered almonds, etc. We were able to tour museum factory where they have made these since the early 1700s. The old town itself is worth touring with ancient churches, many different street vendors, the farmer's market, etc. The town has some wonderful restaurants with authentic local cuisine.

The town is beautiful and green with trees lining the street. It is quiet in town after the Terme was shut down. If you are a hiker though, you landed in paradise. Gorgeous hikes in the Orfento Gorge and surrounding mountains. Also plenty of interesting and beautiful hermitages to explore. The sea is also not far away if the beach is calling. there is at least one good Bar/Coffee shop with fresh croissants and good cappuccino. Also a couple of good restaurants.

Pacentro is a picturesque village nestled on a mountain side. It is a paradise for young children to explore the many pedestrian only alleyways that run through the village. It has retained its quaintness and medieval characteristics and the restored castle tower is a must visit.

    The bed was terrible.

The bed was terrible. The old style spring mattress that wa felt while sleeping. Extremely uncomfortable. We asked for 4 blankets to put on top of the mattress but it still was uncomfortable. We didn't sleep for 3 nights. The water flow from the shower very poor, It was trickling not flowing.. At some stages the water switched from cold to hot Shocking....

Caramanico Terme is like many spa towns in Italy - its glory...

Caramanico Terme is like many spa towns in Italy - its glory days ended a few decades ago when the government cracked down on the racket of subsidising holidays in such places through the national health system. So the hotels here have not seen a lot of investment recently. On the other hand their simplicity is matched by their good value. It still has a lot going for it - it is located in a beautiful area in the mountains of Abruzzo, close to the Maiella National Park, and is re-inventing itself as a centre for trekking, canoeing and such things. The old town - downhill from the modern town with its 1960s-era hotels, is picturesque. In the main street you will find a few bars, a couple of restaurants and a "birreria". All those I tried were good. If you want to spend a couple of days walking in spectacular scenery, and don't mind old-fashioned but hospitable accommodation, this would be an excellent place in which to base yourself.

Their always seems an event in Sulmona which makes the visit extra special, the city has numerous restaurants and bars. In addition it has a traditional market on a Saturday with enticing fruit and vegetables. It is in an extremely photogenic part of the country.
