Pleasant city to walk around.
Pleasant city to walk around. Elegant architecture and good shops if you like that; Egyptian Museum certainly large scale; Lingotto district (old Fiat factory) interesting and quieter. We only had two days as we were on route to somewhere else. Probably could have enjoyed a couple of more days.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Moncalieri is 15-20 minutes by train to Torino so a bit more reasonable than in the city. It is a small borgo and is very quiet in August when most Italians are on holidays. We used it as a base for doing day trips and visiting the sights in Torino. It has a beautiful couple of churches and a nice piazza with several good restaurants. It is also a good base for day trips to wine country and the mountains. We didn't have a car so used the train to get out of town and walked everywhere else. You can walk (a long walk) from Moncalieri to Torino through Parco Valentino. It is a lovely forested walk along the river Po into the city. Torino is a beautiful and vibrant city.Guest review byLaurieCanada - 8.0
Rivoli is a beautiful small town within easy reach of Turin.
Rivoli is a beautiful small town within easy reach of Turin. My friends say it is cooler in summer and visibly above the city smog in the winter. It has easy access to both Turin airport (40 mins) and Milan Malpenso (1.5 hours).. The mountains are close and beautiful as are significant historical town such as Venere. Turin itself a splendid city, with fantastic shops and the best hot chocolate ever! Parking is easy as it is under the squares and streets which are largely given over to pedestrians and service vehicles. The Egyptian Museum is one of the best outside Egypt and beautifully arrranged - the huge Museum of Cinema is by contrast extraordinary is a crazy sort of way - but has a fantastic collection of early cinematography.Guest review byRichardTwinchUnited Kingdom - 4.0

They assigned us room 308, defective air conditioning, no wifi signal, defective TV, defective sockets, a shame! In the middle of the night and after complaining at the reception, they gave us a room at a standard closer to what we knew about this hotel that we have been visiting for over 10 years. Although we were entitled to be compensated, those in management do not know this elegant and justified way to try to save a situation that should not have happened.Guest review byIP DospinescuRomania - 10.0

A historic village on a high hillside over looking the surrounding areas. Easy access to pine forests and activities nearby as well as 15 minutes from Turin. Local Italian life away from tourism with plenty of shops and restaurants. I liked the semi rural location and its gentle and quiet pace of life. Restuarants in nearby Chieri are plentiful and there are delicatessen to pick up local produce. At time of visit there were local harvest of grapes and peaches which werr delicious.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Torino is a great city for everything - sightseeing, food, cultural experiences, etc. As I have already submitted a review of Torino, in order not to repeat the same things, I will write about our visits to Genova and Novara. Genova is situated to the south of Torino - two hours by train. We went there to visit the Aquarium, and we weren't disappointed. However, apart from that, I wouldn't recommend it as it reminds me of Napoli - polluted, dirty, too many immigrants, not much to see. If I have to give it a rating 10/10 for Torino and 7/10 for Genova. I could add one mark for the famous Pesto Genovese, which you can purchase anywhere in the world. For a much better experience, I would recommend visiting Novara. Situated to the east of Torino - one hour by train (in the direction of Milano), you will find there the famous Basilica di San Gaudenzio, and more precisely, the Cupola (the dome). At 121 metres tall, it is one of the tallest domes in the world. More importantly, tourists can book a climb of the cupola (up to 100 metres), which is a once in a lifetime experience. Although not as big as Torino, Novar, for me, is much better city to visit than Genova.Guest review byPeter DTBulgaria - 6.0

It’s a very quiet town definitely not much at all to do there. Unless you like going to the local bar or local restaurants, people are very friendly in there, need to travel into the capital to have a better experience. In the capital other than window-shopping, parks and plazas , there was not many places that were free. I would like to think that Torino is definitely a very bustling capital in the summer and probably best visited then. lots of museums and such like are there as well, but entry is quite expensive for the normal holiday maker.Guest review byUmeshUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Turin is quite a laid back city with lots of French influence and is known locally as "Little Paris". The old city is compact with some wonderful museums and relaxing gardens. People are very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.Guest review byterryAustralia
