- From US$390.68 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 128 reviewsCalapetra Resort in Sicily is a true boutique gem that masterfully combines authentic Sicilian charm with understated luxury. This resort offers a refreshing simplicity that feels intentional and elegant, creating an atmosphere where every detail speaks of thoughtful design and genuine comfort. Staying here is like discovering a peaceful sanctuary that embraces you with warm hospitality and a refined yet unpretentious vibe. What makes Calapetra especially standout is how perfectly it aligns with the boutique and luxury experience: intimate, personalized, and rich in local character without ever feeling overwhelming. The setting enhances this feeling, offering stunning views and a serene environment that feels like your own private escape. While there are other restaurants nearby, I would highly recommend avoiding most of them as they don’t live up to the quality you’ll find at Calapetra. Instead, be sure to visit *Vista Mare*, a Pearl of a restaurant that resonates beautifully with the resort’s ethos. Vista Mare effortlessly blends sophistication with authenticity, offering exquisite local dishes framed by breathtaking sea views. It’s a perfect complement to the Calapetra experience, enhancing your stay with flavors that are as genuine and refined as the resort itself. In all, Calapetra Resort stands out as a luxury boutique destination where simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, and authenticity is woven into every moment of your stay.Guest review byBrunoSwitzerland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 394 reviewsIncredible breakfast, lots of options and quite interesting. They also have a restaurant where we had dinner which was delicious (and had great and abundant vegetarian options). Shower looked basic but was really good (water pressure etc.) Hotel was super clean Staff were friendly and helpful with good English, giving us ideas about what to do and being very nice when I lost the room key.Guest review byGarfinkel
- From US$119.82 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 190 reviewsThe spirit of this place is simply unique and different from most of the others. The resort location and atmosphere are in harmony with nature and the surrounding beauty of Sicily. The uniqueness of the place is, however, made by the hospitality of the resort staff who treat their guest like their own family members. It was an incredible experience full of harmony and humanity.Guest review byPavelCzech Republic

We stayed in Ortygia, the Old Town part of Syracuse, whcih was a very interesting place, with narrow streets and old buildings. The market was great. We also went to the medieval Jewish ritual baths, the only surviving one in Europe, because it was blocked up during the Spanish Inquisition and only rediscovered in the 1960s. The Archimedes and Da Vinci Museum was amazing - found out a lot more of their discoveries and inventions. And the Archaeological Park was wonderful - needed a couple of hours to go around. Have to catch a taxi to get there - best to go later in the day if it is a hot day.Guest review byHazelAustralia - 8.0
Beautiful beach and cliffs around the town.
Beautiful beach and cliffs around the town. Unfortunately not many restaurants and option to eat. The litters are on the beach and no one cares there. But the beach, water and the surrounding nature is just stunning. The place is easy to be reached by local train.Guest review byŠtěpánkaCzech Republic - 8.0
Cassibile in itself is a pretty normal town.
Cassibile in itself is a pretty normal town. There are all the amenities one would expect to find - pretty much within walking distance of the property we stayed in. There are some fabulous pizzerias which are worth trying out. The best thing about Cassibile is that it is within very short driving distances to Avola, Fonte Bianche, Noto, and Ortigia to name a few great locations.Guest review byFionaMalta - 6.0
The area is about 20 minutes from the main city by car.
The area is about 20 minutes from the main city by car. It is a quiet area with simple reasturants on an undeveloped sea inlet. There are farms and boat yards on the bay. The area does not have many tourists so if you’re wanting to getaway from city life this may suit you. I would say a car is necessary to explore this area. We ate at a small restaurant with outside area by the water. Great sunset followed by reflection of the city lights over the bay.Guest review byterenceUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A fascinating historical city with a great deal to see and learn, plus great food and a lively buzz in the evenings. The beaches are small and stony but great for swimming and we found the local people friendly and welcoming.Guest review bySueUnited Kingdom - 6.0
White Bay is a very nice hotel right next to the beach.
White Bay is a very nice hotel right next to the beach. The area in general is not so interesting, and with a very low amount of shops, cafees and restaurants. I recommend to visit White Bay but not the area in general.Guest review byClaus Dall LarsenDenmark - 10.0
Syracuse is packed with ancient Greek history and mythology.
Syracuse is packed with ancient Greek history and mythology. The island of Ortygia needs a full day on its own. The Archaeology museum is excellent, informative (and not dumbed down like so many these days) and the Greek theatre in the archaeological park is magnificent. With a car you get to Noto which is a baroque jewel, or with a longer drive (2-3 hrs) you can reach the best Roman mosaics in the world at Piazza Armerina or the temples at Agrigento. By the way eating on Ortygia is a bit of a tourist experience: hard to avoid tiresome musicians who spoil your conversation for half an hour and then expect a tip.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 8.0
I would recommend the area for a short trip for the beach.
I would recommend the area for a short trip for the beach. In truth, we didn't venture anywhere else other than the villa and the beach as we went there for a change away from the cities we were visiting, but there didn't seem to be a lot to do in the area besides that anyway. The beaches were good, not the best we've been to, but still good, and generally the facilities there were good too.Guest review byMikeUnited Kingdom
