FAQs about hotels in South Tyrol
Tyrolese Magic among the Italian Alps
Part of the Alpine regions of northern Italy, this small province mixes great ski slopes, rich traditions from Austrian, Italian and Ladin cultures, stunning landscapes, and great food and wines. Seasons make no difference here, as the enchantment of South Tyrol has always something magic to offer.
With strong cultural and historical bonds with the Austrian Tyrol, this tiny region has a population with a German-speaking majority. The charming towns spread through its undulating geography mix the Tyrolese and Italian influence.
In the picturesque capital Bolzano, the Walther Square with the Cathedral of The Assumption of Our Lady and the trendy shops along Via dei Portici are a must to visit. Known also as Bozen, it is famous for the Christmas Market, where most of the hotels in South Tyrol get sold out quickly.
Merano is the 2nd city in the region and is famous for its spa facilities. And of course, also some the best luxury hotels in South Tyrol are located here. - Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 141 reviewsAfter six truly unforgettable days at the Adler Lodge Ritten, and I'm already dreaming of my return. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sense of tranquility and luxury that permeated every aspect of my stay. My room was an absolute haven, spacious and comfortable with breathtaking views overlooking the majestic Dolomites. The large bathroom, complete with a private sauna, was a welcome retreat after a day exploring the stunning surroundings. And the complimentary mini-bar was a delightful touch! Boredom was simply not an option at Adler Lodge. The daily activity program offered a fantastic array of complimentary options, from invigorating hikes and yoga sessions to thrilling mountain e-biking excursions. I even had the unique opportunity to trek with llamas and alpacas (for a small extra fee), an experience I'll cherish forever. The heated pool, with its panoramic views of the Dolomites, provided the perfect setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. I also indulged in the spa treatments, and the massages were so exceptional that I booked two more during my stay. The culinary experience at Adler Lodge deserves special mention. From the bountiful breakfasts and satisfying lunches to the delightful aperitivo and exquisite fine dining dinners, every meal was a celebration of regional and seasonal cuisine. The pasta dishes were some of the best I've ever tasted, and the free-flowing Italian wine perfectly complemented each meal. But the true cherry on top was the exceptional staff. Every single member of the team went above and beyond to ensure that I felt welcomed, pampered, and completely taken care of. Their warmth and attentiveness truly elevated my experience from wonderful to extraordinary. If you're seeking an escape to a place of unparalleled beauty and tranquility, I wholeheartedly recommend the Adler Lodge Ritten. It's an experience that will stay with you long after you've departed.Guest review byJeanFrance
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 178 reviewsThe hotel exceeded our expectations in every way! The location is stunning, with breathtaking views and beautifully maintained surroundings. The outdoor terrace and relaxation areas around the property are perfect for unwinding and enjoying the scenery. The SPA is excellent, featuring an indoor hot tub, two saunas, and peaceful relaxation areas, plus an outdoor swimming pool. What truly stood out, however, were the staff and the food. We chose the half-board option and were grateful for it every evening—the breakfasts were fabulous with high-quality ingredients, and the dinners were absolutely superb. The staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful, creating a warm atmosphere throughout our stay. A lovely bonus is the complimentary organized hiking groups—we joined one and had a wonderful experience. Overall, a fantastic stay we’d happily recommend!Guest review byVeselinBulgaria

Very clean, good spa area with attentive personnel. This part of hotel is great for people who wants to have more calm atmosphere than in the main building. By the way very good quality of manicure, a that is rare to find. Takes time but worth it 100%. Cool bar with view, a cocktails and intertainment. I have forgotten my belongings in the room and they were sent directly home. Service was great!Guest review byNataliaGermany

Would like to go back prepared to do the walks and hikes in the area. The old city and market were charming. Loved the Archeology museum and learning about Otzi the Iceman. Cable car and train a great introduction to the possibilities available for future visits.Guest review byKellyCanada - 10.0

There is a lot to do in Merano, rain or shine. Of course, there are the local & famous walkways, the mountain hikes, bike trails, and the Dolomites are nearby. On rainy days, there are castles, the Terme spa/pools. Overall, it's a very nice town with a lot to do.Guest review byLisaUnited States - 8.0
This is further to my previous review on Garni Rives.
This is further to my previous review on Garni Rives. I gave the hotel a review that reflects my honest opinion, mainly about the manager/host of the hotel. Obviously my review was not received with warmth from the hotel manager. He messaged me immediately via Whatsapp and blamed me being not polite to him, I have no idea where does this come from. I believe he has broken the golden rule of being in me the hospitality industry, if he cannot accept honest reviews, how can he improve to thrive on? The hotel itself is OK and the only problem I have is the steep climb (not the hotel's fault) and mainly the manager's manner.Guest review byAnthonyAustralia - 10.0

For those who may not know, Val Gardena is comprised of...
For those who may not know, Val Gardena is comprised of three distinct areas; Selva, Ortisei and Santa Cristina. My advice on where to stay is to try and figure out which mountain ranges you plan on hitting. That said, all three locations are very close together, and you can access them all within ten minute on the same bus. Personally, I would stick to Selva or Ortisei simply because of their access to vastly different mountain areas. Santa Cristina is snuggled between the two and didn't have as much to offer, IMO.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Nice and clean apartment. Even we only had contact with the host via the chat, the host was very helpful though. The location of apartment was perfect. It's located in the city center. We love the view outside the living room. Parking was 15 euro per night, it's very nearby apartment. We had a lovely stay at Casa Fellin.Guest review bySumalaiNetherlands - 10.0

Dobbiaco is a really beautiful town. There is a train station for trips to other nearby towns or into Austria. The bus service is excellent. You can go for hikes up the Dolomites and reach the famous three peaks. So much to do. The drinking water is amazing.Guest review byMonica - 10.0
Kronplatz is everyone's favorite skiing destination.
Kronplatz is everyone's favorite skiing destination. Many slopes of varying difficulty. Something for everyone. All are very well groomed every single night. Lifts are refreshed / replaced by newer at extreme rates. Parking at the bottom station of the gondola is the best that you will ever experience and the price is quite affordable.Guest review byJurajCroatia - 10.0

Castelrotto/Kasteruth is a delightful town set in beautiful surroundings and is we thought just the right size. Large enough to have two supermarkets , a number of choices for restaurants/Cafes , a Pharmacy , a number of clothes shopping opportunities but small enough that we never felt over crowded. It is delightful to see young children laughing their way off to school early morning. And there is a Gelato shop! There is a brand new lift that goes up to several delightful mountain walks at 1,500 metres , as I recall, and a restaurant and play area for children at the top.Guest review bySteveW57Australia
