The restaurant was very good, we served fresh fish of the day and in the morning the breakfast had a wide selection of everything you wish for; Mihaela was particularly helpful and very nice, she even prepared candles on a cake because that day was my birthday. Everything was amazing. The host gave detailed instructions on picking up the keys and getting to the parking. With the apartment you get free parking in the garage and beach access with sun beds. I wish we had more time to explore the area. We found a cute part of town with an amazing restaurant. We plan on going back to Trieste next year and would stay there again. The only issue we had with the unit was the area is a little run down, and the TV is very old and will not support streaming. The weather was fabulous for our stay. Spectacular architecture. Small, mainly flat city, so easy to walk about; Excellent public transport. We ate mostly in Asian/ Oriental restaurants. The choice of Italian food seemed to be limited to pizza and pasta - couldn't seem to find steak on any menu. Be aware of cover charges - all establishments charge a cover charge - some larger than others. Trieste has a cruise terminal. We liked Muggia.
We liked Muggia. It is small and easy to navigate the old town. The main Piazza has several bars and cafes, friendly and welcoming for a drink or a meal, and fun for people watching. There are more cafes and bars towards the waterfront. Just stroll around and enjoy the relative tranquility. We arrived in Trieste by train, taxi to Muggia was around 35 euros. We took a day trip back to Trieste by ferry (fun in itself), and did lots of walking from Muggia. It's a nice respite from the tourist circuit, and so pretty with stone buildings and small alleyways, plus the castle (exterior) and Duomo to enjoy. The village itself has not much to offer (in terms of sightseeing), but for me as a base for exploring the karst by bike it was perfect.
