- From US$315.28 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 30 reviewsGetting there was very easy and easily accessible by a direct bullet train from Tokyo and then just bussing it up - they also have coaches available to take you to and from the JR station if requested. The room was amazingly clean and big - the food as well was very nice especially for a ryokan where the food can sometimes be a hit and miss. The public onsens were also very nice with amenities and drinks everywhere. The most impressive thing about our stay was definitely the service - everyone is very nice - we had Akira, who looked after us most and he was extremely kind and attentive during our stay. I usually dont think it makes a very large difference but this was something else. Last thing is we came on a Mon/Tues - which seems to be the quietest time for them, with maybe seeing around 6 or 7 other groups in total hanging around on Monday and a bit more on Tuesday - which we liked as the public onsens were basically empty if you came in the off peak times and the whole place was very quiet. Though there are alot of facilities catering for larger crowds inside the onsen and outside so if you do want a bit of atmosphere I would reccommend booking closer to the weekend. All in all our stay here was very nice and would definitely reccommend.Guest review byBrandonAustralia
- From US$75.07 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.3Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 1,044 reviewsThe hotel is directly out the back of Fukui train station. Great location. Very clean and breakfast was great. The staff are amazing. We accidentally left behind a jacket, they found it and shipped it to Osaka the next day. They even coordinated with the hotel in Osaka to receive the package. Incredible service. The value is really good as well.Guest review byWilliam MatthewAustralia

We enjoyed the parts of town we were able to experience during our short stay. The train station and surrounding area is dinosaur themed. It's really quite cool and very unique. During our stay we visited the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum which our family (kids are aged 14 & 11) enjoyed. The train (and bus) trip to the museum was scenic and very pleasant. Due to the size of Fukui it was easy to get around. There are plenty of places to eat and shop (again not too far from the train station). I wish we could've stayed a little longer.Guest review byhelena - 10.0

We picked Tsuruga because it was only 2.5 hours drive from Chubu International Airport. It was perfect as a base to explore the areas around. Tsuruga is a seaside town so there were plenty of seafood if you are a sashimi and sushi fan.Guest review byNoraHong Kong - 10.0

I think Ono is a lovely small town with extremely friendly people. When you go climbing to the castle, people say hi as they walk by (which is pretty rare in Japan in my opinion). When you go visit the morning market, the obachan starts to chat with you about their lives and families. The water in Ono is one of the best in Japan. Therefore everything I tried has been super tasty (soba, soy katsudon, sake, wine, dango, coffee, rice...literaily everything.). If you are a foodie, I recommend to make it a two or three day trips at least cuz there's no way to try everything in a day😆Guest review byYulun VivianJapan - 10.0

Fukui has a beautiful modern railroad station serving up old-school rail lines that go through the rice fields to the surrounding area as well as Japan's fastest Shinkansen to Osaka and Kyoto. This station's decor showcases dinosaurs celebrating the largest discovery of remains in Japan to be found nearby. The station's tourist bureau, which has an English-speaking staff member available, has tours to the dinosaur museum and several other local sites, but trains and dinosaurs must be a wonderful way to travel with children. The tourist bureau provided me with a local walking map to gardens and a ruined castle even though I actually traveled to Fukui to only to visit Eiheiji, a Zen Monastery active since the 13th-century -- which was wonderful.Guest review bynancystoutItaly - 8.0
