- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 699 reviewsHotel Kanra Kyoto exceeded every expectation - from its beautifully designed interiors and serene atmosphere, to the attention to detail in every corner. My room was spacious, elegant, and offered a perfect blend of traditional Japanese design with modern comfort. Beyond the room, the on-site Wagu restaurant was also really good - beautifully presented dishes and refined flavors. I also enjoyed drinks several times in the shared lounge area, which was both stylish and relaxing. The spa was another highlight, offering a serene space to unwind after long days exploring Kyoto. The service was outstanding. Every staff member I interacted with was warm, professional and went out of their way to assist. I felt genuinely welcomed and well cared for throughout my stay. This is more than just a hotel - it’s an experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto looking for comfort, aesthetics, and authentic hospitality.Guest review byLevanolGeorgia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 583 reviewsPerfect location. This was such a cool hotel and lots of details were meticulously chosen for the vibe. The staff was helpful and friendly. They downplayed their English abilities when asked, but their English was excellent. There is a laundry on site which can be helpful for packing light. The room was spacious, maybe around a standard US room size, with a spacious shower. There is a little outdoor cafe right outside and this hotel is just steps away from many historic streets. This hotel was truly unique.Guest review byBriannaUnited States

Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.Guest review byAmyCanada - 8.0
The staff was awesome!
The staff was awesome! They did everything in their power to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Room is extremely small by US standards! Room could use a microwave, the only one available was on the ground floor and I was on the 7th.Guest review byMarkGermany - 10.0

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.Guest review byDeepuJapan - 10.0

Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.Guest review byAlanUnited States - 10.0
We loved Kyoto.
We loved Kyoto. We loved the people and the food and the beauty. We started with an e-bike tour of the city which helped orient us to the landscape, history, and culture. Google maps had bus and train routes and times, which helped immensely with transportation. We took taxis a few times when bus service wasn't timely, and the fees were very reasonable. Kyoto was hot and humid, but dressing in free flowing, cotton clothes, using sun umbrellas like the locals, and drinking lots of water with electrolytes made life fairly comfortable. Our favorite outings were the river boat ride down the Hazugawa River, really fun and a chance to see some back country, and climbing up Mt Inari through the Thousand Torii Gates. We climbed in the late afternoon and returned down the steps in the twilight, a truly magical experience. Bring lots of water and plenty of energy. It's a long way up.Guest review byRuthUnited States - 10.0
I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas.
I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.Guest review byeltopoJapan - 10.0

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.Guest review byCatherineUnited States - 10.0

The people of Kyoto were very friendly despite what is often written online about the city being too crowded and having too many tourists. My only regret was the weather - which at the time was exceptionally hot and overcast. I would highly recommend visiting during the month of October rather than September.Guest review byPeterCanada
