- From $427.16 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 1,675 reviewsMy room was large with a very big shower and tub area and full size soaking tub. Everything was updated and the mattress was very comfortable. The room had everything I needed, including a small fridge and a handy in-room safety box. Breakfast was included with my room and I could choose between the excellent Japanese breakfast in the Japanese restaurant overlooking a garden, or opt for the Western-style buffet which featured made to order eggs and omelets and a wide array of delicious options. I liked the location near the Gosho Imperial Palace and the Marutamachi subway station. When I was feeling lazy I took the free shuttle to Oike/Karasuma, where I could catch two different subways (east-west and north-south). The open atrium in the center featured a coffee shop/bar and was a pleasant place to chat with friends. I used to live in Kyoto and this is one of my favorite parts of town, very convenient yet quiet. I can speak Japanese, but was glad that the front desk staff included some very good English speakers. I found the staff at this hotel very friendly and professional throughout the property. After staying for one week, I found it very hard to leave. I will definitely be back.Guest review byBridgetUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 3,885 reviewsI had only checked the list of amenities when I booked without reading the fine print, so didn't realize the swimming pool was primarily for adults (word of caution to fellow travelers!). This was a surprisingly uncommon restriction, but the staff and manager told me that children can be admitted during 7-9am in the mornings and called ahead to the pool so they were expecting my daughter and myself when we arrived early the next morning. Pool was pleasantly warm (around 32 degrees C?) and we had a nice swim. The hotel is beautiful and room was very nice.Guest review byImmqSwitzerland

Room was a great size and very comfortable. Staff were fantastic. I had to see a doctor while staying at the hotel and the staff were very helpful, contacting a nearby medical facility to book an appointment and explaining my symptoms. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Kyoto.Guest review byYvonneUnited Kingdom

Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.Guest review byAmyCanada - 8.0
The staff was awesome!
The staff was awesome! They did everything in their power to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Room is extremely small by US standards! Room could use a microwave, the only one available was on the ground floor and I was on the 7th.Guest review byMarkGermany - 10.0

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.Guest review byDeepuJapan - 10.0

Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.Guest review byAlanUnited States - 10.0
We loved Kyoto.
We loved Kyoto. We loved the people and the food and the beauty. We started with an e-bike tour of the city which helped orient us to the landscape, history, and culture. Google maps had bus and train routes and times, which helped immensely with transportation. We took taxis a few times when bus service wasn't timely, and the fees were very reasonable. Kyoto was hot and humid, but dressing in free flowing, cotton clothes, using sun umbrellas like the locals, and drinking lots of water with electrolytes made life fairly comfortable. Our favorite outings were the river boat ride down the Hazugawa River, really fun and a chance to see some back country, and climbing up Mt Inari through the Thousand Torii Gates. We climbed in the late afternoon and returned down the steps in the twilight, a truly magical experience. Bring lots of water and plenty of energy. It's a long way up.Guest review byRuthUnited States - 10.0
I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas.
I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.Guest review byeltopoJapan - 10.0

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.Guest review byCatherineUnited States - 10.0

The people of Kyoto were very friendly despite what is often written online about the city being too crowded and having too many tourists. My only regret was the weather - which at the time was exceptionally hot and overcast. I would highly recommend visiting during the month of October rather than September.Guest review byPeterCanada
