- From US$343.23 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,336 reviewsA hotel that feels like a 5* resort in a stunning setting. I have loved every single second at Aki Grand Hotel : service was kind and personalised, room was clean, comfortable and with a beautiful view over the sea and the giant tori, dinner and breakfast were very good too. I was impressed by the different onsen in the hotel, but completely mesmerised by the private onsen. I strongly recommend anyone coming to this hotel to book it for a little extra, because it might be one of the highlight of your trip! I had also booked a night cruise, and the boat brings you very close to the tori which I found magical. I didn't use the outdoor pool but it looks fun and was busy yet not too crowded. It opens from mid-July until end of August, until 5pm, no cap needed. The hotel is sophisticated but has a delightful relaxing family feeling so that you directly feel at ease. My only regret was that, due to obon holidays, I couldn't book more than one night. I would 100% come back for longer in a future trip.Guest review byCharlotteChina
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 2,170 reviewsIt was our second time staying here and we were pleased to be here the same as the first time. Definitely a good decision to have an overnight at Miyajima and support local family business. Everything felt very "home-like". Although the building is not new and onsen that they have is far from real onsen at other ryokan type hotels, to even have this option is very nice. Breakfast is very simple, but it is definitely enough. They even provide beer and ice cream for extra payment on the spot, you don't need to go all the way to Family mart. Location is very convenient for one night-stayers. They even prepare a curry for dinner. I cannot express the level of kindness of the owner and the cozy feeling during our stay. This is a true Japanese experience. Hopefully, the owner will accept our group next year as well :)Guest review byKamileLithuania
- From US$356.66 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,557 reviewsAmazing service in a structure that think about you from the first to the last minute, from the transportation from/to the ferry terminal to the onsen introduction (should be ok for tattooed people too). Our room with Torii view was stunning, in japanese traditional style but with all necessary technologies and big tv. The dinner (all oysters) was good quality, but don't worry if you don't like them, they re gonna contact you and ask if you want to change with another menu. Perfectly clean, the position is a bit "up" the village but 2 minutes from the area to be visited, and no problem for arrival and departure, as mentioned. For the onsen they give you lovely yukata and all other accessories. The price is correct for this service.Guest review byCiminoItaly
- From US$427.34 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,176 reviewsAmazing view from the room, especially during cherry blossom season. The staff was so forendly and helpful. They picked up our luggage from the coin lockers at the ferry port and drove it back for us after checkout so we could get coffee in town without having to drag our bags around (or up/down the hill to get to the hotel). They have both a private and public onsen. Highly recommended!Guest review bySuzanneJapan
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 910 reviewsAway from the bustle of the main street which means you would have to be ready to walk a bit more or take a island can if you are not calling the hotel to pick you. If you know how to contact them for pick up, it'll be great!! For the price you pay, it's great value as it comes with dinner and breakfast. Both meals were 9/10!Guest review byChungSingapore

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come...
It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It was my second trip to Miyajima island.
It was my second trip to Miyajima island. The first time I only travelled their with my wife and we did not stay in any accommodation. I left back on the ferry same day feeling that I had to eventually return. I was able to do that and I loved every moment. It's an island I would consider going back too again and staying over again. The island offers so much. For those that want heritage and history, tick. For those that want a close encounter with a deers, tick. For those who love calm beaches or mountains, tick. For those that want experiences with friendly locals, tick. Those wanting to do shopping, especially souveniours, tick. For those who want physical activity, the walking trails up the mountain are a definite tick. I could go on, but, for so many reasons I love and would highly recommend travel to Miyajima.Guest review byAdamAustralia - 10.0
Miyajima is simply magical!
Miyajima is simply magical! From the moment you step off the ferry, you’re surrounded by stunning natural beauty, peaceful shrines, and the famous floating torii gate—it truly feels like stepping into a sacred, timeless world. One of the most enchanting parts of the island was wandering through the smaller shrines tucked into the forest, where rows of little Buddha statues wear hand-knitted red hats and bibs. There’s something incredibly touching and serene about them—like the whole island is wrapped in quiet reverence. Add in the friendly deer, delicious street food (don’t miss the grilled oysters and momiji manju!), and the breathtaking views from Mount Misen, and Miyajima easily became one of our favorite places in Japan. I didn’t want to leave!Guest review byMichelleNew Zealand
